The yard is silent, there's no light.
Dawn can wait, it's dark as night.
The door is opened, you jump in.
A new day's toil will now begin.
You write out tacho's, check the map.
Don't know quite when you'll be back.
Hit the button - hear the roar.
The V8 finds its feet once more.
The writing's over, tacho done.
You drop the handbrake, let her run.
The lights pierce darkness out in front.
You throttle up, your in the hunt!
Now she's rolling, pulling hard.
Once more darkness fills the yard.
Your up to speed, the V8's singing.
You wonder what this day is bringing.
The radio breaks a darkened hush.
This voice is welcome in the rush.
Time is ticking - clock is master.
56, you can't go faster.
Your first drop is soon in sight.
you've travelled safely through the night.
The dawn has broken, daylight's here.
The trucker's nemesis appears.
The second drop is never fun.
Not among the school run.
So sit in queues and wait your go.
Your boss is mad - he lets you know
And when the second drop is done.
You ring the yard - that's never fun!
The boss says, "now where have you been?"
You take no notice, he's just mean.
The pick-up's miles you'll have to go.
You may be tired, but it don't show.
Then cranking up the old V8.
You think about your old school mate.
His great big house and his nice flash car.
You've envied him, though from afar.
He's seems to have the best of life.
Stays in bed to cuddle his wife.
Arrives at office smack on nine.
Great big smile, he's doing fine.
But as you pull out on the road.
The truck is lively, with no load.
You think, well i can't sit and write.
This office work is full of shite.
You drop her down another gear.
and think, get stuffed, i'm happy here!

Monday: Left skiech truckstop in the mornin and headed up to skretting to tip a load of soir where we met up with 2 other greens driver. then it was back down the road all the way to glenlossie for a load of dark grains n pellets which took a while coz the volvo digger had broke down. 2 more greens drivers came in about to get loaded too. We waited on one of the drivers and we headed southbound together. We got as far as scotch corner where we spent the night at one of the4 lay-by's

Tuesday: Left the lay-by at scotch corner where we navigated through narrow roads at a small distillery near oakham. Afterwards it was emty runnin all the way to a farm near worcester for a load of wheat where my dad saw his favourite truck.....volvo<------shite! so we headed up the road and parked up at a truckstop at londonderry (nowhere near london).

Wednesday: up n early we headed for northallerton to tip our load of wheat. we then headed for a place in richond where we got another load of wheat which we dillivered to skretting. we parked up at skiach and went home for the night.

Thursday: got up to a nice hot n sunny day and we started headin down to a still near ballindallochfor a load of malt. then it was a case of headin south to a distillery in dugdale. when that was tipped we managed to get to our destination at liverpool just in time. we bed the night but we were temted to go to the bar where there were some "professional dancers" but we didna bother coz we're wise.......honest

Friday: we got loaded at the docks in liverpool full of soir. so we headed all the way up north to inverness where we dropped the trailer and took the motor for it's service at scania inverness. all in all a fine run.
