- This is a compilation of several short stories and essays I've written over the last few years. A lot of it is made up from school English assignments however recently I've been doing a lot more writing recreationally. The quality of writing also varies a fair bit between works but generally I'd like to think that they're quite good.
At the moment I'm writing a short story entitled "Removed" about a sniper/assassin. I did plan to have it finished by now, but I'm finding it hard gettig time to write anything nowadays, but I will get it done as soon as humanely possible.
That's all for now. Take a look at the works, like I said; some are better than others - and enjoy.

My New Project: Bunker 09
10/08/07 01:55
“I'm just going outside, and may be some time”
Last recorded words of Captain Lawrence Oates, who sacrificed himself for his comrades on Scott’s last, ill-fated voyage to Antarctica.
A horrific bombing raid on a busy port-city leaves eight people seeking refuge in an air-raid shelter. Now word comes of a forthcoming nerve gas attack the bunker was not designed to prevent. And there are only seven Bio-Hazard suits.
Now a military officer, a nurse, a navy pilot, an air-force technician, an ex-serviceman, a pregnant mother, a soldier, and a teenage girl must decide which of them must die, for one of them cannot leave the bunker alive.
Spammers
21/07/07 13:00
Right, over the last few days I've been getting a lot of spam reviews from people advertising their page or others. This stops now. No, I do not want to know a "cheat" that makes my homepage views go up by thousands. No, I do not want to go and see a porno of your kid's school teacher. If I wanted to then that's why they invented Google.
Spammers, consider this your first, last and only warning. If I recieve any more spam reviews or messages I WILL report you for abuse of the reviewing system (yes, I can do that, didn't you know).
Let this be the end of it.
Guess Who's Back; Back Again
07/06/07 15:45
Right, the competition is over; the entries are in; the judge's decision has been made and...I didn't win
. On the other hand, I did acheive fourth or fifth place - and I've won about £30 in vouchers - which I'm pretty happy about, and as that guy in Dynasty Warriors 5 said; "This is not a defeat. Rather, a move for my future!"...
...yeah, whatever
Anyway, now that the competition's over, I can repost the essay that I entered. Those of you who haven't already read it, I hope you enjoy my persuasive essay; "Women on the Front Lines?".
Coming Soon
29/04/07 14:30
Okay, shortly I'll be posting a new pice of writing "A Life in the Day of Chris Barrett", basically, an opportunity for you all to see how dreadfully boring my life is, whilst at the same time groaning through my pitiful attempts at wit. I hope you like it. Expect it sometime this week.
Also, I now have an approximate date for when I'll be allowed to repost the "Women on the Front Lines?" persuasive essay. The competition it is being entered for is being marked sometime in June so hopefully I can have it back up by late June/early July - although I may be in France by then, with possibly no Internet, so it may be a bit later.
Apologies
29/04/07 14:30
Due to the fact that it is currently being entered for a competition, I cannot show the "Women on the Front Lines?" persuasive essay. After the competition I will repost it but at present I have to take it off for copyright reasons.
Sorry for the inconvenience.0 Comments 316 weeks

Recommended books are listed in alphabetical order. Not in order of quality, and I will not move books up or down the list unless the URL changes.
I won't add a book to the recommended list just because you ask me to. Don't even bother asking.
Asking me to add a book straight to the list will make me unlikely to even read it.
However, if you want your book added, leave the URL and I will get around to reading it. Then, if I think it's good enough, then I will add it to the list.
Books in this list will have similar themes or genres to "Chris Barrett's Short Stories". If your book is not here, but I have told you I have added it, then check my other books, you may find it on one of their pages.0 Comments 322 weeks

Hayley D4/29/07We are studying the type of stuff you wrote about in your persuasive essay at school at the moment. I think it is a good essay. It taught me something. I never knew there were two kinds of cloning. Thankyou for that essay, i enjoyed reading it and i am looking forward to reading more of your work. Hayley

'Legalise Human Cloning' I found 'Legalise Human Cloning' very interesting.
by Erin 4/25/07I have nothing against cloning if it allows organs to be created in order to save lifes but the huge problem with the technology developing would be what would be the consequences if it fell into the wrong hands? Also, there doesn't seem to be a need to duplicate a person (well, duplicate them 99%) so why do it? It just seems as if we as humans want to see what boundries we can push and what we are capable of doing.
There are places in the world where it is legal to carry out research and experiments on it and even in Britian it is highly likely that people are illeagaly performing experiments.
I think more than anything, the consequences of this type of technology falling into the wrong hands is a scary thing.
Anyway, it was a great essay which raises many good points and makes you have a think about it yourself.
Is the second one a story? Very good, though whether they classify as short stories is another matter (mine are always about half the length of those!). And the second one isn't fiction, though it is still very interesting and ties in nicely with my Biology lessons at the moment.
