  • Interview with Brian (taken from thecommitted.net)

Brian Mc Fadden has the look of a man who has got his life back on track.
He has more ups and downs in the last few years then most people will experience in their lifetime.
At the age of 26, Mc Fadden has been a boyband superstar and a solo pop flop. He’s battled through marriage break-up, and he’s been gutted to see his popularity plummet in the UK and Ireland.

He was forced to flee to New York to escape the full force of the media onslaught surrounding his spilt with Kerry.
But time heals wounds and changes perceptions. The public now accepts that the former westlife star didn’t dump his wife, Kerry for another women.

His relationship with the Australian pop beauty began AFTER the painful breakdown of his marriage to Kerry due to irreconcilable differences.

Back home in Ireland this week, Brian reveals to SWM he’s relieved that he’s no longer public enemy number one in his own country.

‘Its amazing how things seem to have a much different attitude to me now, and it’s great, I’m delighted,’ he says, sipping a cup of coffee.

‘I was on the Tubridy show the other week and I got a really positive response from the public afterwards. I did Childline and got a great reaction, so it has given me a real boost. I’m really happy with that because obviously being from Ireland means so much to me’

His personal life has also calmed down. Now divorced from Kerry, the couple have a good relationship with shared responsibility for their gorgeous little daughters, Molly (5) and Lilly Sue (4).

‘For Kerry and me, at the end of the day it was important for us to make sure that our children were happy. You have to put your children first and make them feel secure and happy in their world, and that’s why there’s no more trouble between us’ he reveals.

‘I’ve never been as happy in my life. I’m such a different person then I was a couple of years ago. Everything now has settled down.’

Although Mc Fadden has lived out of New York and Sydney in recent years, he was always on a plane home to see his children.
‘I went to New York just to get away when my marriage broke up because I was fed up with what was going on over that whole period,’ he confides.
‘But whether it was New York or Sydney I’d always be on flight home to see the girls. I actually love long-haul flights because I can see a couple of movies, write songs and sleep. I really enjoy that, that’s a good time for me.

‘I have a great relationship with my girls. They’re great kids, very well behaved and very intelligent, Yeah i'm the doting dad.
‘I’m on the phone to them all the time. They are in school during the week and I get my time with them at the weekends. It’s normal life to them and they’re happy.’

Brian discloses that he bought a new home outside of London and is living with Delta.
‘It’s the first time ever I’ve bought a house outside of Ireland, I still look as Dublin as my home and London were I’m based now’ he says.

His face lights up when the conversation turned to Delta, who has suffered her own personal trauma after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of cancer, at the age of 18 in 2003.

Although clear of cancer, Delta’s body still hasn’t fully recovered. She had a scare just over a week ago when she was rushed to Dublin’s Beaumont hospital with abdominal pains.
‘She’s fine now’ Brian says. ‘They thought it was her appendicitis at first, but its not. Her body is still very weak from the cancer, so she gets scares like this all the time. But it’s fine. She’s going to be fine’
McFadden heaps praise on Beaumont hospital. ‘They were incredible. They looked after us amazingly. I had a really bad experience in another Irish hospital two years ago, but Beaumont was just a breath of fresh air.’

Despite living together, Brian and Delta have no plans to get hitched any time soon.
    ‘I’ve learned from m
