Well it's the Day of the Notting Hill Carnival and guess who did not attend. I've been contemplating organising my own little carnival. Carnivals are great and so was doing the conga, back in the days when disco's were disco's. Doo Doo Do come on and do the.. Ok so this blog is me being silly. Ive been up till late observing various genres of music. It's funny how nothing changes and those you know stay and still seem to be the ones who shine. There is plenty of talented artists out there. Just like there are good poets. Some people strongly believe all the good poets have passed on. Or was it something like all the talented words have been written, spoken and regurgitated. Who knows all I knows is that everyday I come across something spectacular from the pejorative artistic-al persuasions of post belenial era. What seems to happening is this remixing of pop songs and all your favourite top 40 hits. Does this mean a revamp of the top 40 on TV. Well to be honest who cares, family viewing of the TV will never be the same what with these YOu TUbes and Bebo Boxes. Everybody likes pressing buttons and squiggling around with mouses. I find it very taxing the squiggling effect. I'm going through mouses like mouses go through crumbs of cheese. OK so I have mouse number two but what is important to reiterate is I am just blogging away sillyilly expecting you the BEboreader to be reading this. I know all about Kudos and I never seem to receive any (Not surprised ~ Cheeky) but as you may have gathered I like rambling on. SO what's happening in the next few weeks, well as you can see above is a link within the old shout box for The Soho. THis is where I shall be on Fri & Sat 7 -10 where I be brushing up on the old DJ ing skills. Pop along it's a great venue and everybody are cool. You see everything is cool, if it's not drop me a message on my right and I'm sure to get right back to you. You'll be surprised I am a man of many talents. Or rather I'm trying to improve or begin a few talents. Maybe the old hats are right and the talent has depleted. Maybe you could share your views on this topic. But at much as I know I could help or can help it say's above soon I be right busy with me studies again. My feelings on this subject of social networking are mainly three things. One of them is if you do it then you're probably already reading this blog. Secondly it's all about soaking up fast information through a collective of minds and fans of stuff. It's a bit like joining a book club, Ok so you might not be in a book club but I'm sure you've downloaded a few PDF files. Anyway typical about the social networker is the way in which they can instantly gather, talk openly and freely about old news and new of course. Also what's big now is this games console playing online, chatting over headphones to people all across the globe on the same mission. So thirdly about social networking online it is a good way to pretend you are making new friends. ANd like the Wizard o whats f Oz often it all becomes true. Watch out for glitzy red high heel shoes and stripy tights. You know like the colours freddy K wore. Still there's no place like home unfortunately there is a place at home but there is no avoiding space at home hence the internet you have so much space you'll be in the land of the twinkies if your not careful. All this surfing has got me bushed. Watch this space it might change, like paint might dry and wind thus blow etc.

  • Extract from Question 5 on Global Village.

    * Noam Chomsky on youtube talks about Globalization and it's consequences.

    * Question: Can Media ever contribute towards a sense of National identity? The answer was debated in class and in my opinion the answer is know, you had to be there. But basically it removes local economy and effects the market selections. 'Makes them at the boot end of it'. Chains such as MTV, NIKE, MACS all infiltrate airports, this corner of the market is called the 'global Nexus' and this reason is an example of how it could contribute to National identity in that it's the first thing you see on entering the country, this of course is a negative.(Kevin Robbins, 1997).

What in the World is going on? P,du Gay et.al(eds) Cultures of production?production of culture. London Open University press

    * GLOBALIZATION = Homogenisation.
Globalization (American spelling) fragment, interupt, redirect and appropriate in the industry. A domination of the West. But these examples are ways of allowing 'Local Markets' in as indeed Starbucks or Macdonalds however the company's adopt local traditions for example in France there's Coissants in MacDonalds and in Starbucks chocolate chip cookies here in the U.K. It's only when the company's package is exported can we describe it as localised. Endemol just recently in Britain 'Endemol West' purchased the British company Hammer House of Horrors that is sure to bring more work inside this country and this is a prime example of a company adopting it's own policies by using it's location to create business or just more importantly provide a service, by noticing gaps in the market (niche).
This process is called intergration. (McLuhan & Hall)

    * A Global Village (Marshall McLuhan: The Media, 1967) queries his original essay called Medium is the Message by replacing message with Massage. This creative idea is ellobated intillectually throughout the book and today scholars recognise that McLuhan predicted a compression of time and space through technology. Halls interpretations of his original essay helped towards thes notions.

    * Manuel Castells noticed: 'An economy that works as a unit in real time on a planetary scale (1999:45). He expanded on Kevin Robbins theory of Globalization equalling Homoginisation and Westernisation by mentioning foriegners influences. The countries for example members of the EU who allow in these foriegners have gone through a deregulisation and deliberalization (American spelling again). He also explains the drive behind his version of homoginisation is influenced by different ideologies (Carl Marx, State his book). THese Media companies promote there products through advertisement influencing the desire to own largely from America (a democratic state contrary to early English state Law). By targeting the consumer, the consumers ideologies inevitably will be influenced regularly especially when it becomes normal (intergrated).

    * Hybrids in companies merging for example on the internet Talk Talk a broadband server (owning lots of bandwidth) are owned by Aol (owning even more bandwidth) and Time Warners own AOL also own the majority of it's own bandwidth, that is resrticted to it's subscribers unless it's in the interest of cinema. Incidently Time Warner are based in New York(The Big Apple). :D

  • Typed another e-mail today.

    It went really well.
Infact it went so well I fergot that that I'd even sent it.
Strangely enough it never came back or anything.

Yesterday the skull and crossbones site down Southwalk.
Many practising magicians met up in honour of
    the winchester Goose.
It was not that it was St Georges Day.
Nor was it that it may also have been Shakespeares Birthday.
Or possibly about the old William Blake week.
No it was just a collection of people, poets and musicians
Honouring the historical progress of preservation
at this very important burial site of Londons
    Notorious lower classes.
The bones of working girls back in the days
Selling there wares like tuppaware. I dished out the plastic cups.
John Crowe distributed the gin upon the soil
In honour of the gin girls.
At the gates we all tied red and white bows
Chanted odes to home soil here, with a hint of Brazilian spirit.
John Crowe the Shaman claims many strange occurances have occurred
since the beggining of this project ten years ago.
Since then the billion dollar land remains untrodden.
The group has key access to the site
And the goose still leaves her imprint upon this historical City.
You'll find the gate with many Bows along Red Cross lane.
