- Hawick Pipe Band was first formed in 1937 by former Pipe Major Bob Short. The band was originally a Boys Brigade band, but as the boys grew older, it became Hawick Pipe Band.
The band played in many concerts, parades and Pipe Band Competitions, all over the world. From China and Japan, to America, to Glasgow. They first entered in competitions in Grade 4 and climbed all the way to Grade 2 where they did very well. But problems which couldn't be prevented, caused them to fall back to Grade 4 and almost fall apart. However with the hard work and effort put in the band, we made it through those hard times to get to where we are today.
For more information on the band, check out the blog (new Programme for 2009 now available to see there too) or contact Cammy Renwick, Kenny Short or any other member of the band.

Aye, really. I'm in Hawick for another year until I move up to Edinburgh, and I do miss playing with the band, so I'm considering coming back. From looking at the 2009 lineup, I've a feeling that I'll have a lot to learn, but with the right amount of work, I should be able to catch up. I might turn up on Monday then, if that's alright?
You lot might see a familiar face appear through the doors again, very soon... Which days do you practice now?
