Our 8 day celebrations usually encompass' a hillwalkers climb, service of remembrance, ceilí & the main event being the parade at the end of the 8 days among other events that range in difference from year to year!

We currently have a position available: within the main Cork Pride committee for someone who has graphic design experience or is an art student/graduate. <b>CORK PRIDE PUBLIC MEETING!</b>
Tuesday 17th February (today) @ 6pm in The Other Place 8th South Main Street will be the time, date and location of Cork's first pride meeting that will be 100% OPEN TO EVERYONE.
We just ask that you are punctual! We will kick off the meeting about 6:05pm so if you're late come join us either 17th February or one of the next two meetings after that which will be posted here also in the coming days.
We will be looking for people who would like to just volunteer or who would like to take a more responsible role on either the art, sports or main committee among other committee's. If you'd like to get involved the involvement is normally minimal perhaps once a week or so. We also will raise issues on sponsorship, organisation, teething problems we faced last year among other issues.
I would urge you all on the forums, young, oldER, newbies, oldERies, from different backgrounds of all walks of life should attend as so we can complete make-over Pride for '09!!
Thanks to everyone for their (very much appreciated) support of this VERY much needed public highlight of LGBT issues.

CORK PRIDE 2009-VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!
Hey guys, we're so psyched about the '09 Pride.
We're just back from the first meeting with the '08 committe and it looks like things probably will change in both structure and organisation. Here are a FEW of the topics up for discussion:
Finances
City advertising
A Facebook account should also be up and running during the week so keep an eye out for that!
Committe and sub-committe's to promote initiative workshops and participation.
Recruit volunteers with artistic flares and other graphic experience for advertising among other imaging needs.
Fundraising volunteers and ideas.
Also if their are any people/groups who may have ideas of events or activities they would like to organise and just link in with the committe with their dates/times, etc
Now for the all important information...
THE NEXT MEETING WHICH IS OPEN TO THE ENTIRE PUBLIC IS @ GRUB CAFE, The Other Place, 8th South Main Street @ 6pm:
TUESDAY 17TH FEBRUARY AND WILL BE OPEN TO ALL UNTIL 3RD MARCH
THEN BE CLOSED THAT DATE WHERE THE COMMITTE WILL BE FINALISED.
We are advertising for the following positions also:
Members to join one OR several sub committes which will include the parade committe/sports committe/advertising & pride programme committe amoung other ones!
People to take initiatives (such as the Lifestyle Weekend being organised by Colleen) to have their own initiatives and workshops.
People who have an interest in art and design, graphics and computers, PR & marketing, etc...
People who would like to be on subcommittes are not required to attend meetings etc every week.
Just dedication is sought!!
By the way guys, these are not up for discussion as well as other topics for another couple of weeks as we want new members to hand in their input and ideas!!

Thursday 10th Of September is World Suicide Awareness Day.
To mark this event, community groups from across Belfast are participating in an “Walk of Life” to raise awareness of the issue. Groups from across the city are leaving their perspective headquarters to march to City Hall for 6am, to mark this as a Belfast wide event. The event is scheduled at this early time to symbolise travelling through darkness and into light as an expression of hope for those bereaved through suicide.
We would like to march from our building Memorial House waring Street at 5.00am
