She seemed to shudder with anticipation, as her long, pale fingers stroked the sleeping mans neck. She smiled, baring long, savage canines. She bent over, her powerful nose picking up the faint scent of blood under his skin, while her hair formed a shimmering white veil around her face. Straightening up, her bright, blue eyes flicked around the room. Was she alone? She had been certain she was, but now, something was different. There was a presence...

With a shriek, it revealed itself. It was male, that much was certain. A black cloak seemed to cover his body, but she knew it was more than a cloak. The shriek escalated, becoming a scream. With the scream, the 'cloak' flapped up, revealing it to be a pair of large, leathery wings, protecting a skeletal chest. It was a banshee, they who screamed when someone was about to die. The vampire seemed to emenate a strange, pale glow. Her face lengthened, as her jaws grew to accommodate large fangs, her hands undergoing a strange transformation, in which her fingertips became home to blades 6 inches long. 'He is mine'.

The voice seemed to come from everywhere, and nowhere at the same time, silky smooth, yet dangerous. If you had not been paying attention, you would have missed it. Screeching again, the banshee drew itself upto its full height. 'You have not yet staked a claim on him.' came the answer, this voice was hoarse, as if the owner was more accustomed to screaming then actual conversation. 'this is irrelevant. I was here first. He is mine.' this time, the vampires lips moved as she spoke. 'Hmm... We shall see about that.' said the banshee confidently, not knowing his words would be among the last he ever spoke.

With a final scream, he rose into the air, a force other than his large wings propelling him into the air. This was the final step. The sleeping man awoke, his eyes changing from pale slits of the half asleep, to the wide open eyes of someone facing their darkst fear. The banshee glanced at him. 'Such a waste...' he said. The vampire frowned, not knowing what he meant, but then it hit her. The banshee had screamed, and the man was the only other one in the room. As a vampire, she was exempt from the call of the banshee, but he had heard it twice. She turned to face the banshee. 'It was a mistake coming here' she said, and the banshee frowned, she seemed so sincere. But banshees had long since bred out of all but one weakness. This last weakness, was so deeply ingrained into them, it was likely it would never leave them. The vampire smiled, but this time it was not a smile of anticipation, it was the smile of someone who knows a secret, a fatal, fatal secret. The banshee charged towards her, his leathery wings trailing behind him. Reaching out, he began to trap her into a small space. Running forward, she folded downwards, keeping her forward momentum, and slid under the banshees feet, rising like a wisp of smoke after her feet slid clear of the banshee. Facing him, she flexed her hands, ready for action.

Leaping at the banshee, she raised her hands, the 8 deadly blades protruding from her fingers aimed for the banshees back. They slid through the banshees skin without incedent, but stopped when they struck the rock hard muscles that were a crucial part of helping banshees fly. The banshee laughed, a sound that, in the immense quiet of the room, seemed infinitely more dangerous than any scream. It was a low, throbbing noise, one that implied that the owner had made a grievous mistake. It wasnt a well known fact, but when a banshee laughs, it means that they are going to cut out the middle man, and instead of waiting for someone to die, are going to do it themselves.

He laughed, And why shouldnt he? This vampire seemed to have no idea how resistant to attack banshees were, that they had one weakness. Whirling around, he sent the vampire flying, where she struck into the man with such a force that he hit the gr
