Me, Myself, and I
The Connolly Youth Movement (CYM) is an all-Ireland young socialist movement committed to the education and politicisation of the youth.

The CYM contains young people from many different backgrounds who have come together through their common belief in class struggle and their opposition to the inequalities of the capitalist system.

We are committed to fighting for young people’s rights whether through unions, on the streets or in the communities we live in.

We are supportive of the Communist Party of Ireland and work with them to forward the cause of socialism amongst the young people of Ireland.

Named after the radical working class leader, James Connolly, we take inspiration from his words and deeds and continue his struggle for class liberation today.

Formed in 1964, the CYM has always defended the rights of the youth and today is no different, so we will continue to organise, educate and agitate for a Worker’s Republic and a socialist world.

      Patriotism might demand that but marxism demands more. It demands that we put aside nationlities, race, gender and class as objects of division. We are one people and have inherrited one earth. We should not be used as pawns by corrupted governments to spread hate through the ranks of the proletariat. Sinn Fein claim socialism but does it show this when they are still stuck in the past. They have done much to gain Catholics the rights they have but they can do more, for both sides. The thing that is most irritating is that they do not recognise this but yet claim to be the socialist party, so far Northern Ireland doesn't have a credible Socialist party but sorely needs one.

The recognition of the duty we owe our country is, I take it, the real mainspring of patriotic action; and our `country', properly understood, means not merely the particular spot on the earth's surface from which we derive our parentage, but also comprises all the men, women and children of our race whose collective life constitutes our country's political existence. True patriotism seeks the welfare of each in the happiness of all, and is inconsistent with the selfish desire for worldly wealth, which can only be gained by the spoliation of less favoured fellow-mortals.
