À propos de moi

À propos de moi
London based SikTh have rapidly gained a reputation as one of the most cutting edge collectives around. Their unique blend of styles has captivated listeners and audiences alike since their conception in 2001. Consisting of six members, SikTh are on a mission to define their own genre of progressive music. It was in late 2001 that BBC Radio 1 picked up on the band, offering them a live session at the legendary Maida Vale Studios in North West London... It was an unprecedented opportunity… SikTh were one of the few unsigned bands to ever play live on Radio 1. Soon after, SikTh released their debut EP 'Let the Transmitting Begin' through their own label which received extensive critical acclaim in the British press and marked the beginning of the band's cult status.

  • Sikth Diary

In May 2002 they signed a lucrative contract with Gut Records (Tom Jones, Right Said Fred, Space, etc.) and quickly set to work on their second EP, 'How May I Help You?'. The title track was supported by SikTh's first video proper - a fully animated affair which received considerable play on MTV, MTV 2 and Kerrang! TV (Kerrang! magazine claiming it was 'the best video of 2002'). Shortly after the mostly-sold-out 'How May I Help You? Tour 02', SikTh entered the studio to start work on their self produced debut album, 'The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out, Wait for Something Wild'. In Spring 2003, work on 'The Trees...' was completed with mixer Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Fear Factory, Funeral For A Friend, Carcass... and loads more!) and in August, on the back of a second sell-out UK tour - 'The Trees...' was (finally) released in the UK on Unparalleled Carousel/Gut, receiving worldwide praise. In early 2004, 'The Trees...' was issued in Japan via JVC Records; straight away, the album garnered heavy critical acclaim, with the 'How May I Help You?' clip being A-listed on MTV Japan. In April 04, SikTh took part in the 'Extreme Dojo' event - a mini-tour of Japan with Anthrax. It was a huge success for the band seeing them return a few months later to play 'Fuji Rock 04' (the biggest outdoor festival in Asia), Within the space of 3 months, SikTh had sold as many records in Japan as they had at home... 'The Trees...' was soon released in Australia through Mushroom Records, once again receiving great adulation in the press and on the street. Triple J (one of Australia's most popular FM radio stations) picked up on the band from the off, interview Guitarist Dan Weller and frequently spinning their songs. In December 04, after months of discussions, SikTh decided to walk from their contract with GUT. Later that Month, with great joy, they put pen to paper with Miami based Bielerbros Records. (a subsidiary of Atlantic Records). In July 05, after 6 weeks recording in Miami, SikTh are at home in the UK putting the finishing touches to their second Album. It promises to be very special indeed.
