Hole was an alternative rock band that formed in Los Angeles in 1989 and disbanded in 2002. The band was fronted, and co-founded by Courtney Love, Eric Erlandson (lead guitar) and Lisa Roberts (bassist and Love's neighbor who dropped the project very early on). The band had a brief period as a three-guitar lineup, with the various musicians, but the lineup that recorded the first album included only Love, Erlandson, bassist Jill Emery and drummer Caroline Rue. Emery and Rue left in 1992, to be replaced by Leslie Hardy and Patty Schemel, respectively. Hardy left without recording, contrary to reports, and was subsequently replaced by Kristen Pfaff in 1993. After bassist Kristen Pfaff died of an apparent drug overdose in 1994, Melissa Auf der Maur took her place from 1995 until the band's dissolution in 2002.

There will be no Hole reunion...
Contrary to reports, Hole will not be reforming. Though Courtney Love announced that Melissa Auf der Maur agreed to contribute bass and backing vocals to the upcoming, "Nobody's Daughter" and tour next year, Auf der Maur claimed otherwise at a music festival in Toronto last month saying, she knew "nothing of a reunion" and "it seems unlikely".
Even more interesting is what Eric Erlandson had to say on the matter. In a recent interview with SPIN, Eric stated that "there will be no Hole without me" and claims that in 2002, during Hole's inital split, both he and Love signed a contract which stated that no reunion could take place without mutual involvement. Seeing as Eric has chosen not to re-join Hole, "Nobody's Daughter" will once again be Courtney Love's second solo album, and subsequently, there is no Hole reunion.6 komentarzy 150 dni

The former solo album by Courtney Love has now been re-worked completely. The majority of the songs have already been performed by Courtney herself, while on tour in 2007, but songs such as "Skinny Little Bitch", "Honey" and "Codine" have never been heard. The three unheard numbers are described as "balls-out, low-down and dirty", "powerful and bleak", and "raw and Dylanish". The album is at the finishing stages, with a few songs needing to be complete and new bass/vocal takes by Melissa still need to be recorded. There's also a reported cello quartet arriving in-studio to provide an overdub on a few tracks.

HOLE ARE REFORMING.
HOLE ARE REFORMING, according to NME.
In their recent blog, the magazine has announced the return of Hole. The "new Hole" will consist of Courtney Love, Melissa Auf der Maur and Micko Larkin, former guitarist of Larkin Love, and who was the lead guitarist on Courtney Love's upcoming album, "Nobody's Daughter". However, this afternoon, NME's blog provided exclusive footage of Courtney announcing Hole's reformation, as well as a detailed look into Hole's revival. It's also said that "Nobody's Daughter" is now going to be the fourth Hole album, as opposed to Courtney's second solo album. Melissa will be joining Courtney and Micko in-studio within the coming days to add new bass tracks and vocals to the record, and a cello quartet is also arriving to record some overdub.
