The University of Ulster, Coleraines Christian Union (UUCCU) is finally doing to Bebo what we have been doing to the Coleraine area for years. We are gradually introducing a new era of truth, love and freedom. We are not just saying this because it sounds like a cool slogan for the year, but because we mean it. We want to help you find these within your own lives. Our aim is to move closer to our God, and if you want to join us, then do it.

Every Thursday at 7:30pm (during term time), we have our main CU Meetings. If you want to come along, then come along. Bring your friends, family, teachers and most importantly, bring yourself.

Ballsally Homework Club and School of Rock
The CU enjoys a great relationship with Ballysally Presbyterian Church. So great, that they allow a team of CU members to help out at their Homework and Music Clubs every week.

Don't laugh. This is actually an amazing chance to help introduce a new generation to our Father in Heaven. And it is great fun too, in spite of all the horror stories!

Homework Club involves helping children aged 7 to 11 with their homework and playing games while reflecting Christ through our own lives. School of Rock involves teaching the children and teenagers how to play the guitar, drums or keyboard, and had precisely nothing to do with rock music.

(Note: Team MAX has been cancelled).
Internationals
Here is a chance for students from all over the planet to come together and get to know other people. You can improve and improve your English, but that probably isnt a job for Northern Irish folk! With a short Bible Study and a different themed activity each week, this is a fun event for everyone, not just international students.

Games Night: Monday 4th February, The Rock - 7:30pm (Meet at security desk, uni main building at 6:15pm). Resumes 29th Septemeber.

Poland Mission:
For the eight and ninth time in three years, the CU is sending a a group of volunteers to Warsaw to run and lead a holiday camp for orphans and children from disadvantaged homes.

The ever socialable CU will be holding yet another social. This time, we're trying to raise money for the ever popular CU Poland Mission at Easter time. The CU will end at 9(ish) and the social will begin at 10pm in the Octagon (31st Jan).
Small Groups
Not enough good things can be said about Small Groups. Basically, you meet up with a bunch of other CU members and have an evening of Bible Study and fun and games. The activities depend on who your small group leader is. The third best group meets on Mondays, but all the rest meet on Tuesdays. They are in Portstewart, Portush and (hopefully) Coleraine.

Sign-up will be in week 2 of semester 1.
LIFT:
Yet another unique oppourtunity. This time, a group of volunteers brave the baltic north coast whether and build relationships with people who choose to go to nightclubs rather than church (which may cover most people).

Details about LiFT will be revealed soon.

This event is not connected with the CU.
Notes:
There shall be Freshers events on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th September. Check into to uni and see what is what.

    • CU Social - 26th March (After CU)

      On the 26th March, John Coulter from Ballysally Presbyterian Church shall be speaking on relationships and singleness.

      And as Alistair Rolleston pointed out to the new CU President Richard Flynn, we are holding a social afterwards!

      Just when we thought that the CU "Double Act of the Year 2008"* have outdone themselves, they go even further. The new Treasurer Sarah Black and the new Evangelism Co-Ordinator Emma Thompson have went to a lot of work putting this event together. The least we can do for them is have a great night. And if you were here last year, you will remember the the Ballysally Homework Club Social was simply phenomenenal.

      These girls have gone all out for our CU and our University. In the past few months alone, they have organised our annual CU formal (which was an awesome night), a Hockey tournament (which was so much fun), a huge table quiz (true or false?) and the recent Football tournament.

      This time, the girls are trying to raise money for the Poland team. The Poland Team will be heading out over Easter and will be running a holiday camp for orphans and children from disadvantaged families.

      If you want to do your part for these guys, please come to CU next week, and then enjoy the social afterwards!

      If you want to do a little bit more for these guys, talk to Robski or Ruth B about joining the Banner Prayer Team. Or make a donation to Amy P and Louise Little.

    • The Fate of the CU Bebo Page

      Okay, this will not be a commentary on free will and predestination.

      The UCC CU Bebo Page will not be updated as much as it used to be. I know, it wasn't updated that often anyway.

      Hopefully, there shall be a new CU website online soon. When this is available, all of the updates will appear there.

      We may not delete this profile. To be honest, we do not know what we will do with it. But we're just telling you how things are right now.
