Bray played Carnew in the 2006 Minor A Hurling final in Arklow on Saturday 24th june and claimed their third Minor Hurling Championship in a row. The teams had met earlier in the year and Bray had won by a good score however finals are different and Carnew are renowned battlers and were in the final on merit having beaten all the other teams in the county. Also the weather was poor with drizzly rain and a slight breeze across the pitch which meant that this would be a low scoring game. The game began well with Elliot Douglas winning the throw in and his opponent breaking his hurley across Elliot resulting in a free for Bray.

This established a dominance the Bray never relinquished and went on to win by 2-8 to 0-4. The first half was close with Bray opening the scoring with Gearoid O'Murchu pointing a free and Carnew responded immediately with a similar score. Bray were dominant at midfield and half back where, People Newspapers man of the match, Eoin Mason was outstanding and went on to score 4 pointed frees. Elliot Douglas and Jordan Lee ran Mason close with their displays. At half time Bray led by 1-4 to 0-2, the crucial goal coming half way through the half when the Carnew full back was blocked down by Rory Breslin who then won the ball on the ground near the end line, pulled the ball back across the square where the in-rushing Gearoid O'Murchu smacked the ball to the net. Scores were hard to come by because of the conditions with both teams shooting wides from almost straight in front of the posts so this score was pivotal in establishing a 5 point gap that Carnew could never close.

The second half continued in the same vein with Bray doing most of the pressing and Carnew hanging on and looking like they could get a vital score, however the mean Bray backs stood firm and when Carnew got close it was Padraig Reynolds, Peter Walsh and Craig Brack Sinnott who blocked and hooked and broke Carnew hearts with their never say die attitude to defending. In front of them Paul Barry had a storming second half, catching and batting the ball while the captain, Ed Keating, on the other wing kept his area clean and tidy with some great clearances.

The half forward line of Paul Cunningham, who scored the second goal, Willie Keane and Padraigh Nolan won a lot of ball particularly from David Haughton's long puck outs. Haughton had a quiet day but made one great save towards the end to ensure that Carnew never got that vital score. The inside line of Cathal Wogan, Rory Breslin and Gearoid O'Murchu held up the ball well and won many of the scores and frees with O'Murchu finishing with 1-4.

The second Bray goal came 10 minutes from the end and was similar to the first with the Carnew defence losing the ball under pressure and the ball pulled across the square where a couple of Bray players were in position with Cunningham getting the vital final touch. Bray introduced most of the panel in the last five minutes which gives some of the younger players a taste for next year and the team or effort was not weakened in the least.

The whole panel performed exceptionally well this year with excellent turn out for training and matches. Great credit is due to Pat Lee for his work with this age group and to their previous Manager, Ronan O'Brien, Also a special thanks to all the people who coach, mentor and support Bray Emmets teams as we look forward to another successful year.

Well done to the referee Declan Peppard and his linesmen as well as the County Board for staging the match prior to the Christy Ring game between Wicklow and Kerry. The cup was presented to Ed Keating by Pat Mitchell who praised the work being done at juvenile level in Bray while Ed gave a great speech as Gaeilge agus Bearla in thanking the team, the mentors, parents and supporters. Peter Keogh presented the man of the match award to our hurler of the year Eoin Mason.
