The Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform (ILIR) is an organization started just a little over a year ago. Underneath the t-shirts that you all have seen and the articles you have read, are a sea of undocumented Irish that inhabit this great country. In the past 13 months, the ILIR has come a great distance, letting no man stop us on our journey.
Your job now...is to get yourself involved. We are always looking for new members because every extra hand helps. There are meetings held weekly in both the Bronx as well as Queens. Let's stick together as did our ancestors before us and together we will LEGALIZE THE IRISH.

We are delighted to announce that there will be two major fundraisers taking place in New York next month sponsored by a broad coalition of Irish American companies and organizations who support the ILIR's mission. The funds raised will help ensure that the ILIR continues its efforts for the undocumented Irish.
Meanwhile, the main news in the Irish American media this week concerned the up-coming visit by the new Taoiaseach Brian Cowen. In addition, the Irish Voice ran a story on the new rules concerning air travel. We have pasted the links below to make it easier for you to read the stories.

Cornelius Mullan
If ever there was an Irish man who was adored by today's youth, Cornelius was that man.
The sad news was discovered this past weekend that a dear friend of ILIR and of the New York community had moved on to join his wife in a better place. Always the first person on the Washington bound bus @ 4am, Cornelius wanted nothing more than to "Legalize the Irish". Known most famously for his entertaining as well as his heartfelt tales and tunes, Mr. Mullan will never be forgotten by those who knew him.
So, I ask that everyone keep Mr. Mullan in your daily prayers as a sign of your appreciation for all that he offered to you.

We need to get on the phones and encourage them to get the bill back on the floor - they are hearing too much from the opposition.

Why? - Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is calling for a vote for cloture.
A vote for cloture will limit the number of hours that the Senate can debate the bill to a maximum of 30 hours. At the end of this 30 hours will be the final vote on the bill.
If cloture is passed, this means the bill would be voted on some time on Saturday.
If cloture fails, there is a risk that Reid will pull the bill from debate altogether and it will not be voted on at all - i.e. there will be no immigration bill - FULL STOP.
The cloture vote takes place in THREE HOURS at 5.30pm EST - THAT'S ALL THE TIME WE'VE GOT.

HI there, just a quik word to let you guys know that News 12 are going to be at An Beal Bocht this Sunday(tomorrow) . I am hoping to round up some ILIR people to come over and maybe possibly do an interview with a reporter if they get a chance. Or even come wearing the T-shirts. There will be drink specials, live music between 4-7. Round up some lads & lassies to help get attention for this issue.........Hopefully see you there
