the last day...............................Penicuik Under 21s
well, we bowed out in heart ache. a 4-2 defeat in a semi final.
the season is finished, and we will be no more.
just a short blog message to thank all those players who have played for us over the four seasons we ran the team.
Guys, personally it's been a blast. what a carry on we had eh?
thanks very much for every players efforts, it was a pleasure.

at last - the Eskmills blog.
well, i've been hassled and pestered for AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGES to do this, mainly by big Crazy and Mr Bruce. So i thought fukc it, i'll give it a blast.
before the double winning days of Penicuik U21s i cut my coaching teeth at the world famous Eskmills B.C.
It's hardly on the scale or Jose at the Bridge but i bet we had a far better laugh, and there is no way Chelsea could top these stories!!!!
Andy Murray is to blame for all of this, as he encouraged me to go along and help out. We had played in the same team for a while, and obviously he couldn't get anybody else to help him..........
the list of players is probably well incomplete but over the years true legends were made. Here are the ones i cam remember.
Muns, Callum, Brett, Monty, Zav, Chris Bruce, Dougie M, Mitchell, Gordon, Spud, Chewy, Sauzee, Mark, Ovens, Chris Graham, Ewan, Ian, Ryan, "Beast", Mickey, Rosie, Mellor, Scott, Perritt, Davie McK,Neil.
We also had a group of lads from Dalkeith. i can't remember their names but they get a mention or two later.........
We also tried to sign a certain Gary Stenhouse. he was the year below but i was promised he was a top quality defender. And, after three seasons of finally coaching Gary at the U21s i am sooooooooo glad.
so glad he didn't sign for us years ago.............
the stories are in no particular order, but an early memory is a tournament down in Gala that we entered two teams for. Andy took a team, and to avoid any suspicion (yeah right) i got landed with the team that had Muns in goal.
however the move backfired as our team ROMPED IT!!! there is no other way to describe it. It was a top quality event with teams from various countries. No matter where you were, you knew the dutch team were attacking as they played loud music during their games. i think it was 2 unlimited. anyway, they didn't play it much against us!!! Monty was the star player, and i think he megged an Edina player about 78 times before they took him off. i think he retired shortly after.
still, it was a great day out and i still have the photo to prove it!!
We were to return to Gala in later years for league games. i don't know what they do down there, but they had some maniac playing for them. He made Z from the police academy movies seem like a rocket scientist!!
so, we just stuck "beast" on to shut him up. and when he scored that header he shut him, the whole of Gala, all our team and the rest of Europe up. no way he meant it.
Talking of things never meant. what about Chewys goal from the half way line? i'm not sure who looked more shocked. Brian was a great signing. i think he only came along to fight people and ended up getting right in about it.
Of course, not all the team selections worked well. i remember a game away to Edina. a top side, who would go on to dominate the scene for a few years. a tactical decision to play Zav at right back for his pace backfired somewhat after he was sent off in 30 seconds. oh dear. i think we might have taken a hiding that day.
still, we might have been a wee team from the cuik that didn't attract star names, but what about the fans??????
i think everybody will agree that Mickey was a one our more popular signings. quite a good player, a good guy to boot. but his main feature.....................

oh ya beauty!!! she would turn up to the games looking a million dollars. He still takes a ribbing this day due to that. he takes it will though.
i'm sure all the boys will agree that a main bug bear of mines is missing training. Still, i found it hard to be too harsh on a certain Mr H.
"why the f**K is ***** no at training???" i shouted.
"erm well, he's had a wee accident" came the reply.
"f**King c**t, wait til i get him the b*****d, missing my f**king training!!! i casually replied.

However, its now time for residents tonykeo & Liam Goldie to take over again in November and as always they'll be smashing up the Speakeasy, OUR HOUSE style !!
