Hey everybody! Although it's really late and usually at this time most people are already comfortable in their beds, I have sometihng that I'd really like to share. Just some encouraging words for those times we all have when we just want to give up.

For as long as I can remember, I was always "that little quiet black girl" in the room. All throughout school, I was generally the different one because, well, most kids in my classes looked the same. So not only did I have that racial barrier there, but my personality was just completely opposite from these other kids. They liked to go outside and run around and play, I liked to stay inside and watch. They liked to be the first for everything, order didn't really matter to me at all. They were all loud and constantly busy, I was quiet and pretty calm most of the time. So you can see, I was just not like everybody else. And my point is, that well, I've been like that every since. But the difference between then & now is that back then I actually cared that I was the odd one out. It bothered me all the time that I couldn't "just be normal." But if you talk to me today, I'm completely different person.

Just because the world labels you early in life and says you're destined to be this or that means absolutely nothing. Don't let them make you believe you're just another statistic. Because the truth is, you're everything but that! Just recently, I contacted a person about an internship. And guess what? I nailed it! Using all of those great communication skills and mannerisms that I've learned over the years convinced that person that I was who they wanted for the job. There were people who said that I couldn't do it because I wasn't smart enough, I didn't "have that look" or just any crazy reason. But guess what? I did it! And at the end of the day, that's all that matters. This is your life. You get only one. Do you know what to do with it?

Hi everyone! Lakeisha here! I'm getting your attention because I'm in need of your help. For those of you who don't know, I've taken on the task of trying to publish my very own teen fashion magazine. Yeah, I know, sounds just about impossible. Which is exactly why I really need everyone's help.

As of right now, I'm the only person on this project. Obviously becaus, well, it was my idea in the first place. But I'm now ready to reach out and gather my very own team to help make this happen. I need more people to help get our ideas and thoughts out, to let people our age and older know about what we're doing and what we KNOW that we can accomplish in the future. So, are you interested?
