Goldie Lookin Chain are set to play a headline show at London’s Metro on Wednesday January 14th. This show is a warm-up for their shortly to be announced full UK tour in March, and will follow the free download-only single New Day on January 1st 2009.


Entry to this Metro show is also FREE, however, taking a leaf out of Radiohead’s book, you will be expected to pay as much (or as little) as you like on your way out depending on how much fun you had (but you don’t get a free Radiohead album). It’s a bit like the Severn bridge toll into Wales, but in reverse.

As Eggsy says: ’The gig is going to be free, which is brilliant. Although it probably will mean we will have to buy our own sandwiches and booze. All donations will be welcome, obviously during these times of credit crunching, just bring some spare change and prepare for a high energy work out. You’d never see Thom Yorke wigglin’ out on stage and then asking you for money at the end of the show.

As for the New Day free track download, this song will be made available on January 1st 2009 for one month only, through all major online retailers. They say a change is as good as a rest, and this tune surely makes it known that if you want to start afresh then where else to start than with yourself. With P Xain on Piano and backed up by the GLC male choir, New Day is a truly uplifting song which will warm the hearts of even the most hardened cynic and make them believe that there is a new dawn and a chance for all our dreams to come true and that one day we can all live as one in the promised land..
