Alan Doherty, aged 17 from Letterkenny in Co Donegal. He was born with a rare disorder called 'octocephaly. As a result he has no lower chin and has to breath through a tube in his throat. He cannot eat or speak. When he was born, his parents were told that he may not live. He proved the doctors wrong and now YOU could give him the chance to enjoy a chocolate bar or shout at a Donegal GAA game!
A major fundraising effort for the Letterkenny Vocational School pupil, led by friends and family, is now under way to raise the €250,000 needed for the initial 14-hour operation and a series of follow-ups.
Speaking through his talking keyboard, Alan said: "We need as much money as possible, as soon as possible. I am begging people, please help me. Please help me now. Thank you all so much".
Comedian Conal Gallen and Irish professional golfer Paul McGinley are behind the campaign.
Last summer, however, Alan went to New York with the PC Irish Team. He asked for "a perfect chin". Mr Broderick, a business man was so touched that he showed a specialist a photo of Alan and then in Easter 2007, Alan flew out to see the specialist and Alan's surgic procedures have begun.
Details about donations are available on Alan's websites:

Northern rivals set for tough battle
Donegal full back Paddy Campbell and Tyrone’s versatile star Conor Gormley have predicted that Saturday night’s NFL Division 1A meeting between the counties at Healy Park will be a close contest.
Speaking in Ballygawley on Tuesday, March 6, the duo agreed that the game will not be as one-sided as when the sides met in the McKenna Cup final three weeks ago. On that occasion, Tyrone coasted to a 2-9 to 0-5 victory but Donegal have proven to be a different proposition in the league, winning their opening three matches.
Campbell said: “We are playing a side which are probably the best team in the country at the minute and who have won McKenna Cup games playing their second and third string teams.
“We are not looking for revenge for the Dr McKenna Cup final loss at all. This is another game in the league and we badly want two more points.”
Gormley believes midfield will be the crucial area on Saturday night.
“In any game, the midfield battles are important no matter what level it is. You need to get primary possession first of all to feed the inside line and your forwards. Donegal have a strong midfield with the likes of Kevin Gallagher so they are strong in that sector and also in the forwards,” he said.
