(It gets a bit boring from here but the purpose of publishing this is purely for motivation from others to achieve them.)


1. Christian Group at Papanui High

Form a team of leaders, and restart a group of Christians who will meet weekly on Friday lunchtimes at PHS. Prepare a ‘talk’ for each meeting as a basis for discussion. The aim of this group will be both discipleship and evangelism. Our goals are to form an inviting group where Christians in Papanui High can meet together in fellowship and as a result, become active teenage evangelists.


2. Regular Exercise

This personal commitment is to ensure the physical well-being and improve the fitness of my wonderful self. This should include walking and/or biking to school and work, some sort of more intense body building exercise at least 3 times a week as well as school based outdoor education activities.


3. Work and save $100 a week

Beginning with finding a job and assuming the pay rate of at least $12/hour, a minimum of 15 hours a week will need to be worked to ensure enough money is earned for $100 to be put aside into a savings account each week. This will need to be kept up throughout the year.


4. Restricted License

With no set deadline as of yet, my restricted license test should be achieved for convenience purposes such as going to youth group and rock solid activities. However it is important this has no effect on goal #2.


5. Restart drumming

With or without lessons, progress must be made in terms of drumming ability. Areas of improvement should include range of drumming style, ability to solo, techniques used and ability to play with a group.
Ways to enforce this goal could be to get lessons from school or elsewhere and/or join a band either through school or church.


6. Learn viola

Ideally, I would like to teach myself to play the viola. This will begin with prompt instrument hire at the beginning of term 1 as well as the joining of the string ensemble/quartet to ensure encouragement in progression of this goal. Progress should be measured in similar ways to above also including an improvement in reading alto clef and Sibelius transposition skills.


7. Rock Solid

Similar to ’07 and ’08, Rock Solid is a yearly commitment made to the youth of Papanui, inparticular that of Casebrook Intermediate. If possible, I will help Michael out at Casebrook during lunchtimes and hopefully participate in ‘Gateway’ where I can help organise and plan Rock Solid evenings and events.
My commitment to my year 8 girls should be greater than previous years including much more contact outside of Friday nights. I will also work to start a group where in-depth bible studies can take place outside of Rock Solid.


8. Y@P Socials

I will play a major role in the organisation of fortnightly Y@P Saturday Socials. This will include regular goal setting and meetings with Nate and Nige. Ideas for socials will need to be brainstormed regularly and expanded upon throughout the year. I will plan talks for these socials where necessary. If it happens, I will commit to writing for the Y@P magazine.


9. Read the entire Bible

By developing a consistant bible reading plan, my goal is set high so at least a few chapters of the Bible will be read each day by following Rhema's "Bible reading in a year" plan. This will not only increase my knowledge of the bible but deeped and strengthen my relationship with the almighty JC.
