There was this woman in England on the news in her car crying about how she couldnt get to work and there wasnt more than 4 or 5 inches on the ground... i got a taxi 18 miles to my home, up hills, at 3am on new years day, in a blizzard, the roads hadnt been gritted or ploughed all day and there was literally 8 inches (i measured) on the road with no salt and we managed no problem!!! The busses still run... cars still manage to get through, fuck abandoning your car... thats just childish, drop down a gear and keep your wits about you, i can pretty much guarantee you will get there in one piece!
I personally live in the North East of Scotland, bordering with the Highlands, we get A LOT of snow, the busses still were running in 2 foot of snow last week! And if you cant take your car in the town get off your lazy arse and walk! I can say that Scotland is a lot better equipped to deal with situations of all sorts than England... Snow being the obvious one... The roads systems are highly sophisticated things, hooked up to the weather sattelites, measuring the road wetness, surface temperature etc and this is what makes us able to send our gritters out when the temperature drops, in the past two weeks there have been very few days that the temperature rises above zero... but we coped! Why can't the Highways Agency use the same systems that we use (they do have them) and they would be better equipped... that still doesnt solve the problem of people in England freaking out when they get a slight dusting.. but it goes halfway! Its ridiculous that the motorways all get gridlocked with an inch or two of snow... our roads are smaller, windier, and hillier and we can still drive on them... well i say that... but ACTUALLY all the English people who have moved up here drive like 10mph and slow the roads down and we all get stuck behind them!!! MY BUS ACTUALLY OVERTOOK 2 CARS THE OTHER DAY! Do you know how much a bus weighs... on an ICY road??? We still all got there in one piece!!! Stop moaning and get frickin on with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And when theres a water shortage everyone freaks out and waters their lawns at 3am?? WTF is all that about? If we have a water shortage happens here, Scottish Water come round in lorries and drop bottled water off at town centres... situation sorted! If theres a flood, we have emergency flood alleviation meetings at 6am to come up with an action plan, we get everyone moved out to safety, the pumps are out within a few hours, residents are out digging flood passages to divert the water, and then everyone mucks in with house clearing, bed making in rescue centres, cooking big pots of soup for everyone and donating clothes for anyone to wear... basically everyone mucks in! If its snowed really bad, you start shovelling your path or digging your car out and before you know it your neighbours have come to help and you are having a laugh, because they know you would help them too if they were digging their way out!

I have been to England and I prefer Scotland as i find it friendlier, I have no problem with English people, I just dislike it when English people start slagging scottish people off for no reason. That facebook group is called: "Unlike in England - when it snows life in Scotland carries on" That is not slagging off England, that is merely stating the fact that we deal with it better (FACT). so everyone bitching should grow up and get a life!
