Anyway, I am Matthew although I prefer Matt and people seem to have taken to calling me Matty Guy which I am not strongly objected to. I like...... hurm. Well comics, superheroes etc. (as if my profile photo didn't give that away). I love music, more on that over there -> but just need to mention Queen and Pink Floyd in particular. I sing and play guitar, but I am quite crap at both, and am not un-known to rewrite lyrics to songs in an amusing way.

Queen and Pink Floyd are my favourite bands. I also love Pulp and Led Zeppelin and am quite into Bowie, The Who and (sadly) Bruce Springsteen. I actually have a fairly broad taste in music, but classic rock is my favoutire genre.
Films
Die Hard (yippee-ki-yay!) Back to the Future Trilogy, the original Star Wars Trilogy, Spiderman Trilogy, Iron Man rocked, Batman Begins, THE DARK KNIGHT, Arsenic and Old Lace (which noone has heard of bar my Drama class) the original Italian Job, This is Spinal Tap, Wayne's World 1+2, to my shame 10 Things I hate About You, Dead Poets Society is AMAZING - Carpe Diem! I am kinda lax in my approach to films, but there are a few I can't stand, like anything with the Olsen twins, but thankfully they seem to have given up on the whole acting thing, which is good, as they CAN'T!
TV Shows
This used to be a 'Hates' section, but it was a bit depressing. Let's brighten it up a bit with TV shows. I watch too many to name all, so here are my favourites (wait, noone cares. Oh well...)
Quantum Leap is my favourite. House, Life On Mars, Doctor Who, Reaper, The Big Bang Theory, Red Dwarf is my favourite Sitcom, Fraiser and That 70s Show.
Scared Of

Guitars
Only saddos actually name their guitars. Mine are called Gil and Syd. Gil is a Stagg A4006 Electro-Accoustic (though the electro part doesn't work for some reason), Syd is a ? Strat. My aunty's boyfriend told me it was a genuine 1973 Fender Srat. He lied. Syd is a bitch to tune and goes way out of tune if you think too strongly about playing him/it, but the 30 or so seconds where he/it actually works are pretty sweet. I just love Gil - my first (real) guitar!
Favourite Albums (this is different from "music"
A Night at the Opera is my favourite album, it is brilliant. However also worthy of particular mention are Different Class by Pulp and Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Buy them, listen to them, please. Oh, and I can't leave Led Zeppelin IV out of this section. I also have to add in Riot! by Paramore, which is decent, and Queen Live at Wembley, which just rocks. A lot.
Carpe Diem
This is nerdy. Very nerdy. It is 24 stories of nerdiness with a grand entrance hall, luxury carpet througout and an electric sign on the roof which reads: THIS IS VERY NERDY. Carpe Diem is a Latin phrase which means seize the day or live for the moment, because the only certainty in life is death, and we are all going to die one day. I think we could all benefit from following the advice within this phrase. "Our Town" rocks.

      Ok, it's Valentine's Day. I hate Valentine's Day, it's a corportate money making scam and what's more I've made as ass of myself enough times on this day to last a lifetime. So anyway, here's what Robert G. Ingersol has to say about Love:

      Love is the only bow on Life's dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher. It is the air and light of every heart -- builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth.       Awwwwwwwwwwwwww. How one sided, near sighted and hopelessey optimistic!!!!!! Yes, there might be some people out there to whom this passage applies, but for the majority of us, I think this is more like it. This is what I have to say about "love";

      Love is the alarm going off at seven, when you got to sleep at half 6. It’s the feeling of having butterflies in your stomach standing next to someone you’ve known your whole life. It makes fools out of decent people and gives false hope to the weak hearted. It traps the innocent and damages the strong, because in Love, we fall. Love is the bin full of scrumpled up paper balls, the clenched fists against the desk and the scores over countless words on the one page that matters. It's the broken guitar string from that punk song you tried to learn for her, the laptop you smashed in a fit of rage wandering why she doesn’t feel the same and if anyone ever will. Love is the creator that destroys, the best that brings out the worst and the light that engulfs in un-dying shadows. Love is terribly good.

      There we go, Valentine's rant type thing over.
