If anyone was at the International last night all I can say is thanks. I can honestly say I think it is up there in the top ten nights I have ever had the pleasure of being involved in there. That is saying alot too as I think I have easily done over 500 shows in the place over the years. Those that were there will know how the show just took off at the end with some of the best off the cuff messing that has ever evolved out of one comedian who was not on the bill sticking his head around the corner. Thanks to Karl Spain on that front. But also thanks to Neil Hickey, Bernard O'Shea and an unbelievably in form Colm McDonnell who was just amazing last night. Thanks of course to Aidan for booking a wonderful show and also to Leo our door man who is the rock upon which the curch survives these days. If anyone ever comes down you should give Leo a big hug as he is one of the most amazing guys I know and you know him too as one of my Chinese co workers from Abrakebabra. He prefers to remain humble and probably enjoys the fact that do to a massve haircut not too many people make the connection. But secretly I think he would love a big hug from some attractive female fan of the work experience. I would also like to point out that Matthew Collins did an exceptional open spot and is also an International Comedy Club record holder for quick completion of a Rubiks Cube.

This brings me to clear up one small issue on a post someone has put below. I do not know where I was quoted as saying only two people from the show have continued to do comedy but I am sure I have been misquoted so let me clear this up. Below is a list of comedians from Joy In the Hood who have continued with varying degrees of success. I will be as informative as possible but I can only say that most of this information comes from my glancing from a distance.

Willa White and Eric Lalor have been mentioned below so I don't need to repeat it. Eric has also just been picked to perform at the Montreal Showcase in Vicar St. in Feb and Willa has been opening for Tommy Tiernan recently.

Pat and Jamie O'Shea both opened for me on my last tour and continue to do comedy in Cork and began their own workshop in a city center venue during the year which was well supported by a previously hostile local media.

Dean Scurry who as a result of time constraints we noticed after filming the pilot episode in Ballymun did not feature striongly in the TV show has continued to do comedy as well. He runs the house of fun comedy club with Willa and Eric and gigs around the country on the comedy circuit.

Colm O'Mahoney AKA cheddar is sitting his leaving cert so by order of the authorities he has not been able to continue his comedy career until it is finshed. However he performed 3 times in the Cork Opera house with me on my last tour and hosted the show in the Marquee in Cork in front of 4000 people.

Kevin Goldsmith moved to Dublin and is now working as a scaffolder while continuing his comedy career in venues like the International. Before moving up he became a regular in Cork venues like the LV and the Craichouse.

Darren Shine sporadically gets involved with very good results but has acting commitments with Limerick Local Drama groups. He has been over to Manchester to gig with Matin Beans.

Martin Beans has been very high profile in his comedy achievments. The media were quite interested in the first traveller comedian. He gigs on a regular basis but has moved to Manchester and is now running his own comedy venue there. he has been in talks with an Irish Production company about a TV show following his progress in comedy.

Paddy Taylor from Derry has continued to do comedy in the small circuit of Northern Ireland. He has had a lot of interest from the industry up there and has performed in the Empire among other venues. His travelling is restricted by the fact that himself and his wife had a baby girl recently. Which is of course a massive joy but a hinderance to
