Hi Folks,

It is official I am Dr. Wilson. yes after many years of toil and trouble I have crossed over to the other side.

I must say the entire process is intense but it was worth it, based on my own personal goals. It was fulfilling to know that I have made a contribution to literature and had the opportunity to write about people I admire and love. to give a voice to women and the girl child who sometimes go unheard. Thanks for all the encouragement, I made it!

Now off to Guatemala I will go.

Well people it has happended I have taken a true leap of faith and I am getting married. William and I are now engaged and I admit I was suprised and it was a memorable occassion. William proposed on Jan. 20th at one of the Inaugural Balls. Yes we were dancing surrounded by the electric energy of our new elected President Obama and he popped the question. He said that he loved me and asked me to marry him. I was in a state of shock, now those who know me know it is a great day when my mouth is open and I am not speaking . Well that is what happened. William got down on one knee in the middle of the dance floor and I said yes. People started cheering and taking photos it was a mad house. I now know that celebs feel like when the cameras start flashing. People came up to us and cheered and hugged us and they were really happy, complete strangers. It turly was a beautiful moment and I am very happy. I will keep you all posted on the detail and plans.

Ok I am back in USA and sooooo jet-lagged. I have no time to rest and I am up at 4 am when I have to work tomorrow. Yet I am tried but thrilled. . It's been two days since I started my new gig at USAID and all is well. It amazes me how small the development world is and already I have met many colleagues and we share similar friends. I tell you the world keeps getting smaller...


Do I miss Paris..umm not yet but I was dreaming of riding the velib last night, a since of freedom and fun. I think I will ride my bike to work while in DC. Ok stop laughing yes me, the diva (as some of you call me) I am going to ride my bike to work just wait and see. LOL!

Better sleep, got two hours before I have to get up for work...I am excited about being foreign service but have no idea will they send me. Umm maybe back to Africa now that would be great. But somehow I have heard the stories of other folks who end up with majors in African development and Education in the Middle East and end up being sent to Barbados LOL! Time will tell and I'll keep you posted.
Yes it feels good to be home...if you haven't heard from me don't be alarmed. I am currently in a 5-week training program and promise to get in touch when it's completed.
