- NUIM Dance Society, only established a couple of years ago, is the largest and most popular society on campus, with over 400 members and rising!

Mon 12-1: Beginners Irish Dancing with Majella
Mon 1-2: Salsa with Maria and Lisa
Tues 12-2: Hip-Hop with Aidean
Wed 10-12: Advanced Irish Dancing with Eimear and Majella
Wed 1-2: Ballet with Gwen and Aoife
Wed 2-3:Training hour( this is a hall space we have booked for our members to train in their own styles or to practise their routines!)

- What are the benefits of dancing?
- First of all, it's the best craic you'll ever have. It will allow you to develop impressive skills which you can show off, and at the same time keeping you extremely fit and toned. It will help you build an enormous amount of confidence. It will improve your techniques and co-ordination. It will open up a whole new world of friends. It will give you access to mad parties and events. And most of all, unlike any other sport, you may find it useful especially in nightclubs, parties, events with music, when dancing with friends and lovers, and show-off situations!
- What if I have two left feet?
- That's also what the dance society is here for, to get rid of your two left feet! It's easier than it sounds, just give it a bit of time and you'll be impressing everyone in no time!
- Is it too late to join now?
- Nope. All classes are fun, easy and quick to follow up. Besides, we are constantly getting newcomers every week.
- What do I have to wear?
- Anything you like, preferably clothes loose enough to move around in.
- Do I need bring partners/company?
- Nope, half the people who start off don't even know each other, so don't let any awkward thoughts ruin your confidence or motivation! Once you come to the classes, you will automatically blend in with everyone easily. It's one big friendly atmosphere!
- Workshops
- This year we'll be holding many different workshops in different styles of dance, so if there's a particular style you want covered or if you have experience in a certain style and would like to give a workshop then email your ideas to dance@nuimsu.com

Canteen Fire
Hey Everyone!
Due to the fire in the canteen last friday, the sports halls are out of use at the moment and the venue will be being used as a place to eat. Because of this, we've been forced to cancel the following classes this week:
Beginners Irish Dance
Hip Hop
Salsa
Modern
Ballet and non beginners Irish Dance will take place at there usual times in the meeting rooms above juicy lucy/speakeasy. If anyone has a problem finding these then contact us at dance@nuimsu.com. Apologies for any inconvenience caused!

Performance Team Auditions!
Hey everyone, just to let you know, there'll be auditions Tuesday 7/10/08 at 6.30 in the venue (S.U) to become a part of the Dance Society's Hip Hop performance group, Lost Souls! This will include the chance to dance as part of a team being entered for the Choreographer of the Year competition coming up on the 15/10/08.
The auditions will take the form of the group being taught a routine and then the dancers will be picked from there so don't worry about having a piece ready or dancing alone. Also, even if you don't make the team everyone can still be involved in classes, shows and intervarsities!
All are welcome so come along! If you have any questions at all just email us at dance@nuimsu.com

NUIM OPEN DAY!
Hey everyone!
The college open day is on this Sat the 28th June! They've asked the dance soc if we'd like to be involved so please let me no asap who's gonna be available cus need to let them know pretty soon if we're gonna do it! Sry bout the short notice guys!!
