To whom it may concern, A life was given, not taken but given freely; a finality to all that mattered. Constantly defending, protecting, fighting a losing battle to barely hold on and then as you take your last stand, rest falls upon you, and just like that, its over.
Will she forget? Will they remember the open arms that embraced them? Will they remember the warm touch that calmed them? Will they remember the eyes that led to a giving soul? That shared anothers pain? That celebrated anothers triumph?
His young life was threatend with an illness that would eventually take him. Pretending he could beat it; come out on top; lying to himself; lying to her. But he was afraid. She should of been his strength, but he knew she was terrified. So from that moment he vowed never to speak of it again and in their minds, the last 24hours never happened. What illness?
December 2003; Time of rest unknown. Time never stood still for one moment after you left, and she cursed it. It never moved so fast. Those close to her were out of sight. Grief paralysed her. Few friends instantly became family when they reached out and gave her permission to lose control. Allowed her to cherish him. Others were like time; foot-tapping. Hurrying. Pushing. Shoving. Move on they'd tell her, forget about it, think of it as a new beginning. Who the fuck were these people? Blood being the only real connection. Unlike her foe, time, she didn't curse them; she only prayed that none would ever feel the way she did (still does). She prayed just as hard for this as she did to bring him back; to make it unreal; to make the phone call she got on xmas day never happen.
He believed in God, she believed in angels. She believed in lifetimes before and lifetimes ahead. Angels don't live in Heaven, they live in our hearts.
