- "Robertson expertly mixes an alt-country vocal style with electronic drumbeats, possessing a voice that commands attention from the first note. Her tone is captivating whether floating in a whispered reverie or letting loose over unconventional lyrics and acrobatic melodies." - Beth Walker, Performing Songwriter Magazine (December, 200
"Imagine a withering roar that's all at once strong, vulnerable, and beautiful. Jessi is a unique power-pop artist that delivers poetic insightful lyrics in catchy songs full of drama and life." - Artist Loft Series, Tainted Blue Studios (September, 200
"This New York singer-songwriter draws comparisons to equally spirited alt-folk muses Tori Amos and PJ Harvey. But with her quavering, spiritual verses, the analogy she deserves is with Jeff Buckley, gender difference or no." - Editor's Review, Download.com - Biography

Good week
I haven't been blogging much these days. Music has been keeping me incredibly busy. I feel revitalized. Some of it probably has to do with getting more sun and seeing the planet come back to life. Last night I had a great time at "A Case of the Mondays". It's a weekly residency hosted by Danny Ross. He's a great songwriter and I have a lot of respect for what he does. I know how hard hosting a showcase can be. I got to hear a new song by Andy Mac that I really loved and he did a brilliant cover of one of Danny's songs. Andy's new album is coming out soon. Buy Buy Buy Buy. http://ping.fm/eJATw I was also introduced to the music of Laura Meyer. Laura has a lovely voice and she can really play the guitar. After that I played a set with The Robot Slayers (Andy, Jim, and Rob). What do you guys think? Should we go with Jessi Robertson and the Robot Slayers or what? I kind of like that. Anyway, Shaky Dave agreed to ad-lib a blues song with us and he was killer as always. Casey Shea followed next. He blows me away, every time. If you somehow hadn't heard yet, one of his songs was recently featured on the show "One Tree Hill." Check out Casey's stuff http://ping.fm/8WqYl Finally Danny Ross closed out the night on piano, accompanied by Carl Basler on bass. http://ping.fm/4Mz1m It was a very enjoyable set. Andy Mac also played cajon on a song. The whole night sounded great. You can still catch "A Case of the Mondays" at Googie's Lounge in the next two weeks, on Mondays of course. Tonight I have practice with the boys. We are getting ourselves prepared for this Sunday when we play the Make Music NY Festival. We'll be outside Matchless at 4:50pm sharp playing sweet sweet music. There's ten LC bands playing starting at 2pm. You do not wanna miss this. Plus drink specials. 50 cent wings. mmmm hmmm. There's lots of good shows to see this week if you are in the NY area. Just wanna shout out: Wednesday 6/17 @ Rockwood Music Hall - Paula Valstein Thursday 6/18 @ Bar4 - NY Sirens featuring Jamie Rae, Shanna Zell, and Josephine Friday 6/19 @ Think Coffee - Andy Mac, Lara Ewen, and Matt Jones Friday 6/19 @ The Living Room - Bryan Dunn, Misty Boyce, Chris Cubeta & The Liars Club Saturday 6/20 @ Jalopy - M Shanghai String Band, Kelli Rae Powell Sunday 6/21 - MAKE MUSIC NY Festival @ Matchless - Ivan and the Terribles, The Courtesy Tier, Great Elk, Lowry, Jessi Robertson and The Robot Slayers, Casey Shea band, Matt Singer, Dinosaur Feathers, Chris Cubeta and the Liars Club, Willie Breeding Band http://ping.fm/uwrET0 Comments 159 days
