Alex's charity money raised
Jsut to let you all know that as a result of everyone's kindness, over £16,000 has been raised in Alex's memory for the Bristol Children's Hospital over the last year. We have a fund set up known as THE ALEX ROSS STAR TRIBUTE FUND and any money sent in Alex's memory to the Grand Appeal gets listed in that and we can say what we would like it to go towards. So far we have given money for a special monitor for the Intensive care ward and money to the bone Marrow Transplant Unit and Ward 35, which is the teenagers ward at the hospital. It all helps buy extra things that the NHS cannot fund to make life a bit easier for patients, their families and the staff.
The money has come in from many sources,the funeral donations, the Diamante concert, school charity and event fundraising, her cousin Chris's mammoth Lands end to john O'Groats bike ride, a incredible personal donation from a dear friend from ther Playhouse just to list some of them! We are deeply grateful to all of you . You can check our the Grand Appeal website on www.grandappeal.org.uk and if you look at the star tribute page you will see Alex's star. A year has passed
It is a year since Ally left and it is hard to bear. I worry that I will forget the things she liked and disliked so i am going to list some of her favourite things here.If anyone knows of other things, please add them. I'm sure her friends know lots more than her mum does!
Alex loved: peanut butter sandwiches, dried apricots, pasta with cheese or pesto, roast dinners, gammon,garlic bread pizza and that tearnshare bread. She loved Will and Grace, Friends, Everybody loves Raymond (on in the morning and always had to leave it before the end to catch the bus!)Big Brother and all reality shows like Wife Swap, Supernanny Brat Camp. She loved films like Dirty Dancing, Sleepless in Seattle,Chicago, Bridget jones and Love Actually. Her favourite music was varied. R and B stuff that she danced to at Danceworks and Coady Crew, as well as ,of course, McFly and James Blunt, favourites to the end. She also liked all songs from the musicals and old songs like Cole Porter ones.
She loved shopping ans Starbucks and Soho and going to drama at the Playhouse and doing shows like the summer school ones and the pantos, Annie, Chorus Line etc. She loved going to the Lido and hot days and sunbathing and looking great in the latest clothes and somehow having a style that was all her own. Those were the days! Most of all she loved her friends and spending time with them or texting or MSN ing them. How I wish she could still enjoy all these things with you and us! Alex cups this year won by: Hannah Denman -Theatre Studio cup Nicole Holland -Tewkesbury school Y11 Spirit of the Year cup. Well done both! xxxxx
We had a fabulous Garden Party at South Cerney to raise money for the hospital. We made £2,367!! the LLewellyn Bowens were lovely and it was a sunny lovely afternoon. Hey Alex-at last you have a Facebook site too! We can put all the details of any fund raising efforts in your name on there as well. Next thing will be 28th June-after all exams etc- a garden party at South Cerney Vicarage (David Bowers new parish) in the afternoon with Lawrence and Jackie LLewellyn Bowen who live round there attending as local celebrities. More details later but needless to say all friends very welcome indeed.

Alex,you know Uncle Malcolm is a member of the Eddie Stobart fan club? And remember how we used to spot their lorries on the way to Scotland and back? Well he put in a request for a lorry to be named Alexandra Ellen! (They all have girls names on the front and sides.) And yesterday we heard that there has just been one christened Alexandra Ellen! It's one of the new 58 reg ones so we must all look out for it on the motorways. Hey, i know you'd prefer your name on a red convertible sports car but this has to be good!! We've been talking about you ,Alex! The children's hospital in Bristol and GWRFM radio have been doing a 3 day Big Give from the hospital to raise money. I gave an interview to the Western Daily Press to their women's editor Susie Weldon to promote it. It was nice to talk all about you!! She wrote a nice piece in Wed's paper-a centrefold position! Also I was interviewed by Stuart and Nick from GWR radio for a bit to go out during the Big Give. So more"Fame" for our Ally! Wish you could have talked to them yourself.
