Whats up everybody? its been a long time since weve posted any blogs here and thats because typing is much more diffucult than sitting around writing music and thats exactly what its all about for this month, next month and last month. just trying to get as much done as possible, as it would not be an exaduration if i said we have over 100 riffs in each of our heads, and time is being our worst enemy! we also have about 3 maybe 4 complete songs that we just left in the waiting list, as it is with all ham companys, we only want to bring the best to you, in this case a filling for a metal sandwhich of progressive insanity! buttered in hells very kitchen.

So Im just letting you all know we still very much exist even though we havnt been booking any gigs or advertising our name about the show, like franz ferdinhand do, weeew were franz ferdinhand be a fan on our bebo weeeew were franz ferdinhand check our our demo.

So we finished up another song today, 'Corruption of Thought', and in my humble opinion it is by far the best song i have ever participated in the creation of, i can safely say i am proud of this song and my only regret is it dosent have tits, but we are working on that!


also i have to say, i really apreaciate anybody that encourages the band on aswell, you are the power!

First band up Dark Edge were highly animated and abundant in confidence from start to finish. The lead singer cast aside his outer clothing to reveal his red tunic in a Hendrix meets Adam Ant fashion. His flamboyance was not only an exterior accessory as his vocals and stage prescence demanded a favourable response from the adoring crowd. They impressed the judges and scored highly enough to access the final in the Delacroix on 23rd of November.

Dark-Edge Bio: The Band Now October ‘07

The band was first formed as it is known now in Jan ’07. But before this, the band known as “Dark-Age”, founded by two brothers Sean (Drums) and Niall Carlin (Rhythm Guitar) was still in the experimental stages as the two wanted to put their years of practice to good use and many musicians failed to gain residence.
The pair began trying out players and soon came across their future lead guitarist Jonathan McCauley (a.k.a Johnny Mighty Midget) who had previous band experience with the seldom mentioned “False Fayth”. But having shaken the faith from his boots Johnny was now better than ever and the Carlin’s decided to keep him as a powerful addition to the team. This proved to be a very wise decision as Johnny has shown that size isn’t everything with his colossal stage presence and ability to play no matter what the situation.
After trying out a number of vocalists they realised that confident metal vocalist were hard to come by. When all links were lost and many vocalists had failed to meet the standards of Niall, Johnny suggested trying out his previous bands singer. One phone call later and David Mulhern was on the scene. After a brief run through of songs, Niall Carlin was impressed enough to keep the front man and thus the search began for the last piece of the puzzle….a kick-ass bassist.
The group found just that in ex DKJ guitarist Dave Carlin, who also happens to be Sean and Niall’s cousin. When Dave first showed up the band were blown away by his skill as he played the bass as if it was a guitar as well as his great musical and song writing ability. And thus “Dark-Age” was formed.
This is where the first problem arose. The name. “Dark-Age” was already the name of a long running foreign band so it needed to be changed. The band began its days as “Reign” but that faded fast. To stop confusion for fans who know the band as “Dark-Age” they changed their name to a similar sounding “Dark-Edge” and this stuck firmly in the minds of the band and its fans. This however was after a lot of debate on the subject, but this was the most effective solution.
The band members each brought with them their own influences and when these meet it created, along with some chaos, a unique style that blends many together. This versatility would later help them gain their foot hold on local crowds. It was apparent from the beginning though that this would end in a few skirmishes. But these were subsided by the bands want to better themselves and to prove to the rest that they had what it takes.
The practices began immediately in what became dubbed “Carlin Mansion” and the songs began flowing. The band had a strict “No Covers” rule which initiated their original production. The band started in the trash metal genre, but soon developed their style to include Heavy Rock, “Cheese” Metal and even Acoustic Rock eventually creating their previously stated unique style.
As with all new bands, not all their first songs were a success and they began to strip each of their tracks to the core and rebuild them as their skill and ability increased.
As time went on the band made their own rough recording of their first song “End of Days” and placed it on their band site. This jolted their band’s reputation and soon the fans gained numbers.

The band had their first gig at the Nerve Centre, Derry on 27th August 2007, as part of the Gasyard Féile. The “Dark-Edge” debut was followed by their first bar appearance in the Dungloe Bar the next night. They had established their placed on the local metal scene. The time had now come, to go higher.
The band is now going strong with new gigs planned and an ever expanding set
