About Me

Me, Myself, and I
lofi are an unsigned trio from Northern Ireland. Phil and Glenn are based in Bangor which is close to Belfast and Pete, who is also from Bangor now lives in LA. They all play guitar and piano but are mostly interested in music programming.

lo.fi think that their music may best suit films or TV since all the tracks are instrumentals.

We have many influence which you may hear traces of from time to time in our music like Radiohead, Beck, Massive Attack, Bloc Party, Coldplay... to name a few (although there are many more).

Ok, so maybe I'll try to write a web log now and again to update all who may be interested about the goings on of lo.fi and projects we are currently working on.

For those of you who don't really know who we are then let me introduce this 'blog' with some general info about us like who we are, where we're from and so on... First off - I'm Phil (26) from Bangor Co. Down in Northern Ireland. I work currently as a computer programmer for a IT firm in Belfast. One of my main interests is obviously music, listening to and playing! I mainly play guitar and I am learning the piano on and off when I get time. My musical influences are far and wide ranging from rock to electronica to classical to heavy metal. Electronica has started to interest me more and more over the last few years probably starting with the release of Radioheads "Kid A" album. I think this should show through in our music as it is probably our biggest influence.

Second, Pete. Pete is my cousin and he also comes from Bangor in Northern Ireland, however, he is now living full time in LA, California. I'm sure in the past this could have made it extremely hard for bands to continue with such a distance of separation but with the rise a little thing called the Internet it is easier than ever to collaborate musically via email and other Internet related tools. Pete mainly plays guitar but also piano occasionally.

Last but not least Glenn. Glenn is a friend of mine whom I have known since primary school. He is also from good old Bangor NI and is currently working as a graphic designer in Belfast (this comes in useful in conjunction with my programming background for creating our web site http://www.lofiaudio.com). Glenn mainly plays guitar but also piano now and again.

So, with that brief backgroud on us out of the way I can get on with telling you all what we're currently up to. As you may know we do not have a vocalist so this may limit the interest in our music because of confusion about what genre we should be categorized under and thus how get our music out there so that people can listen to it. Personally I think this should not be an issue - but if you were listening to the sh*t that exists the UK charts at the minute you would understand instantly. Now, this leaves us with a predicament, do we risk not ever getting signed due to our songs never being heard by the right people or do we try to cross-over to a new up and coming film/tv music genre which is just as rewarding but perhaps less recognized. This was a no-brainer for us really as we are all film/tv fans. So if anyone wants to categorize our music then we are probably best discribed as Film/Tv related electronica.

So with that said, and probably said in too many words, we are currently in contact with a tv music licensing agency that may be able to get our music published in the US on various tv programmes or films. We are remixing/reworking a few old/new tracks which will be available on purevolume soon and we will be sending these to New York to see what happens.

Thats it for now! I'll write again soon - in the meantime go and register on our forums!!! http://www.lofiaudio.com/forums
