- 2008 is here and Darren McNamara and his MCNSPORT Team prepare to attack on all fronts entering 3 championships and aiming to cement they're place as Europes number 1
Darren McNamara enters the 2008 Formula D American Championship as 2007 Rookie of the year with a brand new Falken Tires backedcar yet to be revealed..........watch this space!!!!
Darren also plans to attack the Prodrift European Championship in his MCNSPORT SR86, Europes most sucessful drift car returns from America to take on all comers
Darrens MCNSPORT AE86 N2 is undergoing further development in the off season to prepare it for the 2008 Prodrift IRL Series.
Darren said "i had to take a year out from Ireland and Europe last year to concentrate on making my name in America, so i am lookin forward to competing in Europe and Ireland in 08 and showing people what i can do once again"
2008 will be the biggest year so far for Darren and who knows will we have a Irish, European and American champion in 08???

New Jersey Report
another weekend of mixed emotions in the US. We were definately on the pace, in fact we had the fasted entry speed of all competitors but perhaps we were a bit too fast as we had quiet a big off in Sat morn practice which bent the front right suspension so we ended up with twice as much camber on one side compared to the other which led to some interesting handling from then on.
Even wit my interesting handling we still posted the fastest entry speed and second highest angle in qualifing and the line was pretty good too but we still only qualified 8th overall????. The very bumpy track was another obsticle to overcome as the lightweight ae86 didnt like the bumps very much which made the car a handfull.
I faced Ross Petty my Falken team mate in the top 16. I led 6-4 from the first round but made a little mistake on the entry while following and got penalised heavily for it and lost 7-3. i like to c it on the dvd as all the footage ive seen so far has been inconclusive.
So another event down and a few plus's and negatives to take from it so roll on Atlanta next weekend its time for a proper race track........

Darren McNamara Update
Hey its Darren McNamara,
Just touchin home from D1USA Round 1 at sunny Englishtown New Jersey. Didnt get much practice in today only about 3 hot laps, on the fourth entering turn 1 near the limiter in 3rd i clutch kicked and heard a loud bang from the rear and immediately pulled into the pits. Turned out we shattered one of the sun gears in the diff which also ripped off the splines off the half shaft. So myself, Denny and "Gung Ho" set about puttin things rite again and missed all the rest of practice but were all set now for tomorrows practice session now.
Car looks mental at this stage, got the new 1.8metre rear GT Wing on the car and also gotta thank the people at Seibon for the new fibreglass doors, rear tailgate and awesome carbon bonnet. Got four new TRD short stroke shocks fitted this evening so lookin forward to gettin on track and expecting the car to b much better. Also got the new speedglass installed, ultra light weight and scratch proof.
