Jan and I are engaged! He popped the question on Valentine's night. Here's the story

I had an insanely busy day at work because the CEO and Directors from Australia were over for an annual meeting. So we were on high alert and stressed out all day. Jan asked me to meet him across the road outside Crown Plaza Hotel at 5:30pm. I was a little bit late, but frazzled and feeling icky from a long day. A lady came up to me and asked me if I was Vicky (I thought I was in trouble!). She then said that I needed to go with her because she was giving me a lift in a limo!!!!! And I said ... WHAT?!

She put me in the limo, and handed me a small bottle of champagne (which I finished ... I realised something was up and I was nervous!). When she got in the limo she told me she was meant to play a song for me, and it was Mr Jones by Counting Crows (my favourite band), plus a whole heap of other songs including our favourite songs by the band Live's latest album.

So I was chauffered in a limo to Bastians Point, and when we arrived (I was still by myself), the limo driver told me Jan was waiting behind the statue. I had to wonder off down there and Jan was waiting for me. It was such an awesome day too and all the yaghts were out!

Jan got straight to the point and asked me to marry him (and yes, he got down on one knee!) ... to which I said yes

It's all a bit of a blur, but we then returned to the limo which was waiting for us, and had it drop us at Hammerheads for dinner. I have to admit I was not focused on the restaurant at all ... but it seemed to be a very nice place!

We haven't set a date yet, but looks to be November / December 2007 so watch this space!

I haven't written in my blog for over a year now - shocking!

Hope you've all had an awesome Christmas break. My dad took us to Los Angeles and Las Vegas for Christmas and New Year which was FANTASTIC!!! One of his life's ambitions was to take us to Disneyland as a family.

We spent 4 days in Los Angeles and visited Universal Studios and Disneyland while we were there. Followed by 3 days in Las Vegas where we did the Grand Canyon and saw Cirque Du Soleil and spent New Years Eve on the strip.

Was a great experience and more so because we got to experience as a family, and these days it's hard to get us all together! Photos to follow shortly

Other big news is I've decided to delay my trip to the UK by 1 more year. Too many reasons to elaborate any further, but since I'll be in New Zealand for a while longer I decided to get myself a proper job and have managed to secure a position at ASB Insurance (one of NZ's top 4 banks). Apparently it's one of the best places to work in New Zealand so I'm really looking forward to it.

I'll be in South Africa for the first time in 8 years in August / September for Chanelle's wedding, so looking forward to catching up with old friends .

Hey everyone

Hope you all had a great Christmas.

We spent Christmas in sunny Fiji a as a family! Temperatures averaged 28 - 30 degrees every day. Was so hot, weird to think that Durban had a similar climate in summer. Back in Auckland again - average of 20 odd degrees in mid summer with freezing sea water. *sigh*

Started the new job which is going well so far. I've got the "new girl syndrome" - literally as I'm the only girl in the office but it's all good, and the career move had to be done.

New Years coming up - I'm heading down to Te Puke on the east coast of New Zealand for a few days. Can't wait!

Have an awesome (and safe!) New Years! 2006 is gonna be a good one ... I can feel the vibe.
