- Tutto su di me
- Well if you have got this far I am guessing you either know me personally or through my DJing/Production.
I produce and DJ under the name 'Louk' and have had releases and remixes on labels such as German Trance, Naked Lunch, Detox, Druck, Joyride, Dataless, Drizzly and many more labels as well as having played at many events such as Defqon 1, Q-Base, Slammin Vinyl, North, Uprising, Resonate, Premonition, Bionic + many more and I regularly play at Hostile, Atmosphere and Hindsight.
I am the owner of Compulzion Records which is a hard trance/techno label, with releases so far being played on Radio 1, having rave reviews in magazines and massive DJ support worldwide.

Interview with Louk by Jake Nicholls for Uprising
LOUK, THE 2009 INTERVIEW / Q&As
Louk, the man of the moment - bookings left right & centre across the uk and europe with many releases & remixes on labels & albums across the board.
One to watch for sure, and not long before his long awaited second appearance at Uprising on Oct 31st.
Where did it all start for you?
Producing was during my final year of GCSEs at school, I had mucked about with a few programs but got really into making tunes and was well into my trance back then and things started getting serious in 2004. DJing was at an illegal outdoor rave in Cornwall in 2004.
Where did the name come from?
A shortened version of my real name Loukas (but I hate it please don't ever call me that!!!).
What gave you the initial push?
Going to an outdoor rave on dartmoor in 2002 where M-Zone, Easygrove, Nick The Kid, Orpheus and Akira and many others played, that night blew my mind, and also having the Dance Academy (RIP) in Plymouth on my doorstep pretty much. 2002 was an amazing year, such an influx of *** amazing hard trance and techno where at least two out of three tunes in piles in a record shop would make you dribble at the mouth.
Who would you say was putting on the best events at the moment?
Q-Dance, though I heard Getyrkix had a pretty good run this weekend with Southern Sound (!)
Which other countries have you played?
Germany and Holland and Ireland.
What was the first event you ever played?
The Illegal rave I mentioned above, it was awesome except for flies flying into my eye. I cant remember what I played except for the Derb Mix of Spacefrog Follow Me got a play.
What’s the best event you’ve ever played?
Q-Base in Germany, got to go back to back with Wragg + Log
ne, got to play some vinyl and the setup was amazing. We were on early so crowd wasn't that big but the buzz was wicked!
What was your first record you bought?
Sosa - The Wave on Additive Records (bought it for the mix that is off a dreamscape tape, think it was mark eg dreamscape 29). Oh and I also bought a Bjork tune Smile
Out of all the tunes you have, which one does the business every time?
At the moment it's the Ressurection mix of The Messiah by Tommy Pulse, Iain Cross - Sexy Beast is also sick!
What's your favourite tune of all time, the ultimate classic?
System F - Out Of The Blue, Liquid Child - Diving Faces and Roos Instant Moments (Marino S Mix) come in second and third place respectively!
And when all the partying is over, how do you like to relax?
Sleep like a demon! Always like waking up on a Sunday feeling fresh and if it's not the case then to the pub later in the evening. Erm I like watching TV, playing computer games, going to see mates, cooking and oddly am probably one of the few who enjoy washing up as it's a good chance to listen to CDs.
How is the scene in your eyes at the moment?
The ones who have been greedy all along are getting their comeuppance and the good guys who are in it for the right reasons are shining through, you only have to look at all the wealth of new talent playing some awesome bookings to realise this!!
How big is your vinyl collection? What is your opinion on CDJ's? (the pros & cons)
Used to have 1500 (when I was writing reviews on a regular basis I'd get a lot of tracks sent and would keep em), then one weekend on a buzz after a really messy weekend I decided to go through and just sell loads of them and only keep records I really like. Still buy a couple vinyls each week be it classics off discogs or new tunes and play them. Love CDJs too - have used them since October 2005 and love the fact I can play upfront material fresh out the studio, the bad side is all the illegal filesharing and they still don't sound that warm at times!
The funniest thing that ever happened at an event?
Stopping the wrong track, an MC asking 'hope this isnt being recorded, anyone got any pills' half way through one of my sets. Acquiring the nickn0 commenti 53 giorni

January 2009 Update
J A N U A R Y 2 0 0 9 U P D A T E
Hey All!
Hope you are all well and had a wicked and wonderful Christmas and a phat new years! My oh my I certainly have been well slack and not updated this page for a while. I do apologise I have just had so much on!
Right heres a few updates for you!
RELEASES
'Masters Of Chaos - Retribution', a track I produced with DJ's Jonez and DJH, has been signed to German Trance and is the first release on their digital imprint! This has had a load of plays accross the globe and has a fantastic remix by S.H.O.K.K and should be out sometime soon! Here is a clip of it: http://www.louk909.co.uk/nu/retribut...
I have teamed up with Brian Eddie (also known as 'Konflict', who also is in my class at University) and we produced 'Critical Level'. The track has been signed to Friction Recordings in Australia and already has massive DJ Support from Kamui, A*S*Y*S, Remo-Con, Yoji, Nikki Elise, Luca Antolini, Fausto, Shy Brothers Iain Cross and many more. Here is a clip of it: http://www.louk909.co.uk/nu/critical...
Myself and Nick have also produced a follow up entitled Darkness, here is a preview of it. We played it at the Grove on New Years Eve and the response was really well! Not sure where we are taking this one but I shall let you know when I find out more! Here is a clip of this one too: http://www.louk909.co.uk/nu/darkness...
Also my 'Activate' track is out now on Xpressiv Dark, a label ran by the wonderful online magazine XpressDJs.com. The track is released with a remix from Brian Eddie and is available on Trackitdown and some other sites! Support for this one has been massive with Kutski, Remo-Con, DJ Dean, Bas + Ram, Yoji and numerous others! Here is a link if you wish to buy it http://www.trackitdown.net/genre/tra...
REMIXES
Firstly my remix of 'Dave Walker - Mystify' on Detox Recordings is out now, you can buy it on Trackitdown.net - It has already been played on Radio 1 by Kutski and the likes of Alex Kidd, Andrea Montorsi and numerous others are all on it! Personally I don't think it's my best remix but I am glad you all like it and I have played it out a couple of times!
Here is a clip of it for you all to check out: http://www.louk909.co.uk/nu/mystifyr...
Secondly, Danish legend DJ Choose has let me loose on his ODBC track which is forthcoming on Diverted Music and I have done something a little bit more laid back and techno inspired for this one! It has my usual mixture of dark and light sounds and the break has some strings in so I hope you all like it. A clip for that one is here: http://www.louk909.co.uk/choosermx.mp3
Finally, Local label Terminal Trax asked me to remix Pete Kingwell's Only You track and I have gone and done something totally different from my usual style. What I can only describe as a cross between A*S*Y*S, Walt and Kamui on a very techno inspired day is definitely the result here! It's already had a few plays from the likes of Fausto and Luca Antolini. Here is a clip for it: http://www.louk909.co.uk/onlyyouremi...
INTERVIEW
I recently did an interview with XpressDJs.com in time for my debut release on their label. I talk about Scotland, Compulzion, MP3s and the future! You can read the interview here: http://www.xpressdjs.com/ezine/page2... - A massive thanks to Graham at Xpress for interviewing me.
COMPULZION RECORDS
I have recently set up my record label Compulzion and the first release is out in shops on Jan 12th. It is 'Cohesive - Follow Me' and has remixes by Myself, FJ Project and Mike Steventon. DJ support for this track has been massive with Mark EG, Kutski, A*S*Y*S, Scot Project, Dr Willis and numerous others! It has received Radio 1 play (Cheers Kutski!) and also received 5/5 in I-DJ Magazine and has been licensed to Pharmacy Volume 6 mixed by Scot Project. Future releases on the label are forthcoming from Wragg & Log One, d1 commento 326 giorni
