OF MICE AND ME
A few who know me , also know my dark secret....namely , i am periodically visited by mice .
Now i know that i really should do something about doing repairs to my little flat , i'm fairly sure i know their entery point in my bathroom....a wee hole between the shower and toilet. But DIY is not my strong point , and i'm a bit of a lazy git.Mostly a lazy git.I'm quite happy to ignore most problems , but this recent batch of furry fiends are making it hard for me to ingore them.A couple of the cheeky wee devils have scurried across the living room floor as i watch TV of an evening , then proceed to engage me in a staring contest for several minutes before darting into some unseen corner . Such boldness must be punished by my action.
My past method of dispatching the rascally rodents has been the old fashioned Tom and Jerry style , wood and spring bar mouse trap , type affair thing. You know the kind...SNAP!and its dead. The problem is , i've grown increasingly squeamish over the whole proceedings.I'm feeling quite sorry for the wee fellows with their little flattened faces.I find it unbearable now to seperate their little squashed forms from the traps. So now the traps have become single use devices , as i scoop mousey ,trap and all into a plastic bag , then hurriedly throw all into my bin.
I have decided this time to use a mixture of LETHAL and NONLETHAL traps.I feel that this now enables the mice to actively participate in CHOOSING their own destiny !How New Labour is that? Saint Tony maybe gone , but his influence lives on. Yes, the mice can now CHOOSE between being caged in a plastic prison with a bit of food , to be released into the wild whenever i can be arsed OR they can have their skulls crushed by a cold metal bar.True choice...True democrasy in action!
So far the polls show:-
PLASTIC PRISON:0
SKULL CRUSHED:2
Its early days yet , but it looks like the mice are definatly voting with their heads. Not , perhaps the choice i would have made, but , then again i'm not a mouse , and indeed have no right to impose my cultural , spiritual or human views upon another species.
I'm still squeamish over disposing of the corpses , but i feel morally up lifted that i have enabled another society of creatures to fullfill its own fate.
yours
democratically

how do i work this blog thing
What happened ? What happened ?
Yesterday i spent ages writting my first ever blog , and when i saved it , it disapeared!!!!! What did i do wrong????I spent most of yesterday working on it !Oh , i could weep really could !
All modesty aside , i think it was no half.......no really ..............full of wit and insight......Gus (stoutof heart ,fair of spirit) had popped in during my writting of it with an early birthday gift ( cds of CSS + RILO KILEY) and he said it was good.He did !Honest!
The blog explored all the reasons why i've been going to TinPark , but now having problems with it .Mainly , too big ,less choice ,overhyped , and the Neds are more noticable now ( Neds should never be seen and seldom heard).
It then assessed the new Connect Festival , and Gus ( stout of heart, fair of spirit) and i's first camping and weekend stay there. It pointed out its faults - huge hike from car park , and that car park , campsite and music site all seemed to be situated on marsh land !!!!!With the obvious problems with mud.
And ood points-CHOICE!From what you ate and drank , to how you experienced the event.SEATS AND BENCHES! Yeah you could sit and chill ,and chat.Real conversations with real people.
Of course i reviewed the bands we saw , in a fair and humourous way .CSS and MOGWAI , were the bands that really light my candle !
It explained how shear exhaustion meant that Gus (sofh, fofs) and i could not face the Somme like mud on sunday , so we headed home , but had a really lovly breakfast at a cafe on the banks of loch lomond.
It concluded by me admitting that i am not the happiest of campers , not a camper at all .But i've no intention of hanging up my festival boots yet as i still get a buzz from seeing new bands and fav bands.I just haven't figured on how i'm going to make it work for me. Yet !
The most important thing....well done CONNECT !
AND CHECK OUT CSS!!!
And now its all lost in the internet ether.....
For shame , really for shame
Yours
despondent
