Me, Myself, and I
This is the place to join if you are a fan of either the 1978 or 2003/4 versions of Battlestar Galactica. As you may know the 1978 series only lasted for a single Season. The 2003 series is now into its fourth and final Season. The spin-off Series Caprica has been greenlit for production. We hope to use this page to keep evryone informed about this as well.

The 2003/4 series is a ratings success, both on its Home Channel of SCI-FI in the US and in Europe, primarily on Sky One. The show has won various awards including the Peabody Award; regarded as the most prestigious Media Award there is.

Talk about both shows here on this dedicated Bebo Band Page. We also welcome talk about Galactica 1980; the primarily unknown Battlestar show that was televised after the "78 series.

  • Colonial Fleet Following The Cylon Attack

Colonial Fleet Prior to Second Cylon War:

The Battlestar Fleet- (120 Carrier/Battleship Hybrids)

From The Miniseries, William Adama tells Lieutenant Kara Thrace when she's released from the brig, "We lost 30 battlestars in the opening attack." She responds, "That's a quarter of the fleet." This establishes that there were approximately 120 active battlestars in the Colonial Fleet at the time of the attack.

    * Mercury Class Battlestar (Approx. 40)
    * Valkyrie Class Battlestar (Approx. 40)

    * Unknown Class Battlestar (Unknown No.) Galactica Was Last Of It's Kind This Could Mean With No Networking Or Of It's Class.

    * Carrier Vessels Name Of Class May Be PathFinder (Approx. 20) Which Were Smaller Than The Galactica Class And Used For Heavy Troop Movements

Also Included Within The Fleet Make-Up Were Hundreds Of Support Ships Such As:
    Destroyers
    Scout Ships
    Frigates
    Mining Ships
    Military-Grade Space Park Ships
    Transport Ships
    Merchant Ships

Also included are hundreds of Raptors and Vipers; Which were organised in Squadrons and assigned to the Battlestar Fleet.

Battlestar Groups traditionally consisted of two or three Battlestars; along with their Viper and Raptor Squadrons. The Battlestars were supplemented with some of the various Support Ships (Mentioned Above).

Confirmed Battlestar Groups Thus Far Are:

BSG-75 (Of which Galactica is a Member)
BSG-62 (Of which Pegasus is a Member)
BSG-41 (Of which Valkyrie is a Member)
BSG-39 (Of which Triton is a Member)

Other Battlestars listed from the Re-Imagined Series are:

    Athena
    Atlantia
    Columbia
    Erasmus
    Night Flight
    Solaria
    Triton
    Mercury

A bit of information about Battlestars Galactica, Pegasus And Valkyrie

    Galactica:

    Race: Colonial
    Type: Military
    FTL: Yes
    Propulsion: 6 Sublight Engines
Crew: Approximately 2,650 Before Attack, After Battle Of New Caprica 3800(Approx)
    Transports: 8 To 16 Shuttles
    CO: Admiral William Adama
    XO: Saul Tigh
    Role: Carrier/Battleship Hybrid
Weapons and Armaments: As many as 506 point-defense dual Kinetic Energy Weapons, 24 primary dual Kinetic Energy Weapons, at least 12 missile tubes capable of firing conventional and nuclear missiles

    Available Spacecraft:

Vipers: Prior to the arrival of Pegasus, Galactica has at maximum thirty-four Vipers, of which at least six are Mark VIIs.
Galactica receives additional supplies from Pegasus since her arrival that helps in repair and refurbishment of her original fighter complement; more recently, she receives new Mark VII Vipers built aboard Pegasus using raw materials mined from an asteroid and the advanced battlestar's Viper construction facilities ("Pegasus", "Scar").

Raptors: The number of Raptors available to Galactica is portrayed inconsistently. The current assumption is that the battlestar has at least five Raptors, having left Ragnar Anchorage with at least eight.

Other Craft: * Galactica currently possesses two Heavy Raiders. One is hit by Galactica's defensive fire and crashes into the starboard flight pod with unknown damage (Scattered). The other returns in operational status from Caprica (Home, Part I). One of Galactica's Heavy Raiders is relieved of its FTL navigation system for use on the rescue mission to Caprica (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I).
    * A second Raider is in Galactica's possession after Daniel Novacek's "escape" from a basestar, replacing the one retrieved by Kara Thrace and lost during the quest for the Arrow of Apollo (Hero).
    * An experimental stealth fighter, the Blackbird, is constructed using spare parts (Flight of the Phoenix) and used in a critically successful reconnaissance mission to explore the nature of what comes to be known as the Resurrection Ship. The Blackbird is later destroyed after completing her last mission during the Battle of the Resurrection Ship (Resurrection Ship, Part II).
    * Galactica possesses fuel tankers used to supply fuel to Vipers and Raptors in flight wit

The music from Battlestar Galactica became an integral part of the series, interwoven into plotlines and even performed by cast members, like the track “Gaeta’s Lament”, sung by Alessandro Juliani (Felix Gaeta) or “Dreilide Thrace Sonata No. 1” which was a key plot point in the episode “Someone to Watch Over Me”.

Season 4 composer McCreary was recently called one of the top 10 composers “that make space adventures epic” by www.io9.com. His work on the television series Battlestar Galactica has been described as offering “some of the most innovative music on TV today,” by Variety, and his blog www.bearmccreary.com/blog, which features in-depth inside looks at the process of scoring Battlestar Galactica, was called "one of the best blogs in the business. It's a fascinating look at the process of making music for film and television and the care he takes with aligning the score with the twists and turns of each character's plot lines," by The Hollywood Reporter.

He also scores the series Eureka, the upcoming SyFy series, and Battlestar Galactica prequel, Caprica, the Capcom video game Dark Void, the upcoming series Human Target and Trauma and Battlestar Galactica: The Plan. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CAPRICA SOUNDTRACK TO BE RELEASED BY LA-LA LAND RECORDS

Composer Bear McCreary Scores Battlestar Galactica Prequel

(June 10, 2009- Burbank, CA) – La-La Land Records will release the soundtrack for Caprica on June 16, 2009. The two-hour pilot movie, released on DVD on April 21st from Universal Home Entertainment, launches the new series Caprica to air on the SCI FI Channel in early 2010. Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, Wrong Turn 2) composed the score for this Battlestar Galactica prequel. McCreary will be appearing in July at The House of Blues in San Diego during Comic Con. La-La Land Records is releasing the Caprica soundtrack through a license agreement with NBC Universal Television, DVD, Music and Consumer Products Group.

Bear McCreary is one of the top young composers working in Hollywood.

Among a handful of select protégés of late film music legend Elmer Bernstein, McCreary is a classically trained composer with degrees in Composition and Recording Arts from the prestigious USC Thornton School of Music. His credits include Wrong Turn 2, the two Rest Stop films, the upcoming Capcom video game Dark Void, the series Eureka, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Battlestar Galactica.

Set 50 years before the events that unfolded in Battlestar Galactica, Caprica chronicles an astonishing scientific breakthrough taking shape on the planet Caprica. The rapidly evolving spheres of human and mechanical engineering have collided, along with the fates of two families. Joined by tragedy in an explosive instant of terror, two rival clans led by powerful patriarchs, Joseph Adama (Esai Morales) and Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) duel in an era of questionable ethics, corporate machinations and unbridled personal ambition as the final war for humanity looms.

"The Caprica score, while echoing the spirit of Galactica, is very much its own entity, like the series itself", says McCreary. "This album is the seed from which the musical universe of Caprica will evolve and grow."

Caprica not only introduces new characters and a new spirit to the Battlestar Galactica family, it also welcomes a new director, Jeffrey Reiner. He describes, “Bear sent me very complete demos against picture that worked great, but it wasn't until I sat in the scoring stage at Warner Bros., and heard the maestro conduct his orchestra, that I was blown away."

"My approach for Caprica would be the polar opposite [of Galactica],” explains McCreary. “After all, the events of this series take place in an entirely different environment. Caprica City is a familiar society at its most decadent and opulent peak. The audience knows that doomsday looms on the horizon, but the characters themselves do not."

There will be musical threads that connect the two series. For example, the track “The Adama Name” ends with an understated reprise of the Adama family theme (“Wander My Friends”) to connect the boy of Caprica to the commander of Galactica. Have no fear … the taiko percussion ensemble returns and can be heard on “Cybernetic Life Form Node.”

Caprica is currently available on DVD and will premiere on the SCI FI Channel in early 2010. The Caprica soundtrack will be available in stores or from www.lalalandrecords.com on June 16, 2009. The two-CD Battlestar Galactica: Season 4 soundtrack will be released by La-La Land Records on July 21. For infor
