Revolution Breaks Out At Belfast Music Mecca!
- Anton and Acoustic Revolution launch CD single ‘21st Century Famine’ at the John Hewitt Concert Room.
A packed ‘John Hewitt’ was set alight on Wednesday last (11th November) in a musical maelstrom with the launch of cutting edge CD single ‘21st Century Famine’ by singer songwriter Anton Glackin and the Acoustic Revolution Band. The multi-talented trio featuring guitars, banjo, fiddle and harmonica delivered a scintillating set that had the enthusiastic and appreciative crowd buzzing with their refreshing cocktail of folk, trad, jazz and blues.
The original songs from Anton – reminiscent of the biting lyrics and social commentary of early Dylan at its best, were performed with the smoothness of James Taylor and the conviction of a youthful Christy Moore.
Among the original songs featured in the set were the moving and thought provoking title tack ‘21st Century Famine’, the hard hitting ‘Disillusioned with Democracy’ , the Bob Marleyesque ‘Stay Near the Light’ and the catchy ‘bluesy’ ‘Looking for a Miracle’.
The rousing and moving set had the enthused audience baying for an encore and the reprise of the title track had the crowd on their feet singing with the chorus.- A new anthem from the new Dylan?!
• ‘21st Century Famine’ single (5 tracks) is part of a forthcoming antipoverty / human rights album from Anton and Acoustic Revolution. It is now available at Premier Records, Smithfield Market, Belfast and at live performances.
• Anton is currently appearing in Belfast at Café Zinc (Thursdays) and The Rotterdam (Sunday 7pm – 9pm)
