HEY! welcome to Abertay Dance's page!
We are the University of Abertay Dundee's dance & cheer team!

Our aim is to create a group in which members can explore various types of dance while meeting new people, keeping fit, and of course having fun!

we started in 2006 as abertay dance society but changed to the sports union because obviously dancing is a sport!
In past years we've gone from belly dancing to hip-hop, irish jigs to salsa swings to name but a few, we even tried our hand at poledancing!
Our first show 'Verve 2009' was a huge success, well done to every1 involved & thanks to all who came!

what do we do??
we hold dance classes for our members during the week, we head out on nights out which always end up with us on the dancefloor! we watch dance movies in the union cinema... all your fave movies for free!! we go on weekends away to improve our dance skills eg. pole dancing, Irish! we go to dance shows and check out others skills! in general we just have fun and really enjoy everything dance! We keep fit and keep up our cheer spirit!
who can join and how?
any student or staff at abertay can be a member, whether your a begginer and have never danced before or have been a dance teacher for years now we want you!!!
You dont need to bring a partner or anything, most people come to dance not knowing anyone before they start..by the end yu'll know loads of people !
we also want both girls and guys!! we try and cater for everyone in our classes.
you can sign up at the freshers fair or anytime throughout the year, come along to one of the classes or drop us an email and we'll help you out! email us at dance@abertay.ac.uk
how much does it cost?
£25 for 09/10 classes, this covers your sports union membership and insurance! we try keep costs as low as possible and try make sure you get your moneys worth!
specialist one-off classes could cost you an additional fee but we will make sure you know about any further costs!
Classes!!!
Every monday, wednesday and thursday
Mondays class is Dancercise, its on 7pm till 8.30pm. In G11 ( room beside the abertay gym) Its an aerobic dance style class that will certainly get your heart pumpings and your body aching!! most of it has been choreographed by the lovely drill seargent Suzy! but changes are being made and its now taken by caitlin and dee.
Wednesday 3.30-5.30pm (bluebells training hall) is our newest class, CHEERLEADING! really fun and very intense exercise! Fast paced dancing and jumps and plenty of spirit!
Thursday (7-9pm G11) is choreography class where we get teachers in to teach you a routine in a certain style of dance.
The classes are of a mixed level so dont be afraid to come along and try them out.
