ASDA T's recalled
After a massive response from men and women all over the country ASDA have decided to remove the "if at first you don't succeed" T shirts from sale.
I've included the standard response that was sent to all those who complained to store managers. Despite the number of complaints leading to the T-shirts being withdrawn ASDA still maintain that the slogan was simply "a bit of fun" Unfortunately it seems a woman's right to say no is still a bit of a joke at ASDA and I you bet that ASDA won't be the last store to sell a message that trivialises violence against women.
Thanks to everyone who contacted their local store and helped remove the T-shirts from sale. Here is the response from ASDA.
Naturally we're sorry that you found the t-shirt offensive.
Our range of comedy t-shirts are exactly that, simply a bit of fun and are very
popular with both male and female customers alike, not to mention the fact that
the entire design was produced by a team of women.
Following customer feedback we have now withdrawn the t-shirts from all of our
stores.
Yours sincerely

What to do when a woman says no?
We've just heard about a "comedy" T shirt that ASDA are selling despite complaints from shoppers and outrage from organisations that help women who have been the victim of men's violence.
The shirt carries a picture of two women surrounded by the words: “If at first you don’t succeed buy her another beer”.
ASDA have defended their decision to sell the shirts claiming that they are "simply a bit of fun" but with current conviction rates for rape at an all time low and many members of the public appearing to believe that getting a drunk women to sleep with you is acceptable behaviour the T shirts are more sinister than fun.
According to ASDA over 15,000 of these T-shirts have been sold which means that there are 15,000 guys wondering round letting anyone who can read know that if a woman says no, it doesn't mean no it just means you need to get her too drunk to say no.
ASDA shops in Newton Mearns has been approached by someone from Rape Crisis and someone from Comic Relief to remove this product from their store but they refused to do so.
If you want to contact you local ASDA to complain about the Tshirt (and lets face it why wouldn't you?" then please please please email or phone your local store manager. The number will be in the phone book (or if you look on their website you can get the head office email) Explain why you find the T-shirt offensive and demand that they remove it from their shelves. It also helps to point out that you won't be shopping there unless they do take the T-shirt down!
Beware though, They are currently replying to everyone who complains with the same stock reply that claims "yours is the first complaint that we've received". It's a fairly blatant lie (check out http://www.badmothersclub.co.uk/jsp/... to prove it) but it does make you feel as if you are a lone freak and that everyone else gets the joke!
Please let me know how you got on and if you get a better reply to your complaint.
