Wright and Cooper said: "In 'Universe,' we plan to keep those elements that have made the franchise a success, such as adventure and humour, while breaking new ground in the relationships between mostly young and desperate explorers, thrust together and far from home. Above all, we believe the Stargate itself remains an enduring icon with infinite potential as a jumping off point for telling stories."
After unlocking the mystery of the Stargate's ninth chevron, a team of explorers travels to an unmanned starship called the Destiny, launched by The Ancients at the height of their civilization as a grand experiment set in motion, but never completed.
What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never ending mission, as the Stargate Universe crew discovers the ship is unable to return to Earth, and they must now fend for themselves aboard the Destiny.
The crew will travel to the far reaches of the universe, connecting with each of the previously launched Stargates, thus fulfilling the Destiny's original mission. Challenges will arise though as the ship comes into range of Stargates placed centuries ahead of the Destiny and the crew is unable to control the ship's navigational schedule. If someone is left behind, there is no way to go back for them, adding to the drama of encountering new races, enemies and adventures.
Stargate Universe will debut as a two-hour movie event on SCI FI. Following its premiere, Universe will assume a regular hourly slot in Summer 2009.
Universe will be distributed by MGM Worldwide Television Distribution. -

Ming-Na on Camille Wray’s ‘Life’ and love
Stargate Universe actress Ming-Na has been doing the interview rounds this week, with tonight’s episode “Life” marking the first major outing for her character, Camille Wray.
A short kino recording earlier in the season gave the first hint that Camille is gay — the first openly gay character on Stargate. In “Life,” she’ll have the chance to visit Earth and see her long-time partner, Sharon (played by 24’s Reiko Aylesworth).
“I felt that it would be a challenge on a social level, but on a personal level as an actor, it’s like any other job,” the actress told The Huffington Post. “I’m just trying to understand who she is, what her strengths are, where she’s coming from, what her greatest fears are and what her motivation is from day to day. So as far as those challenges are concerned, it’s pretty much the same. Except I’ve never kissed a woman before, on or off camera, so that was the only other new challenge.”
It’s the first time playing a lesbian for both Aylesworth and Ming-Na, who took it as a professional challenge. “When it was presented to me I felt it was a new challenge as an actor,” she told After Ellen. “I’ve never played a lesbian before and I thought it was very fitting for her character.”
Whatever the show’s writers may have in store for Camille’s future, Ming-Na is confident in them. “The great thing that I know and that I’m positive about is that the writers from Stargate Universe, all of them, are so respectful and for this series they want to draw out great characters who have real emotional issues and things that happen to them that people can relate to,” she said. “I fully trust what their sensibilities are, the stories they want to tell.”

Tapping confirms her return to SGU
Colonel Samantha Carter will be back on the small screen before the first season of Stargate Universe is over. Actress Amanda Tapping confirmed to The Huffington Post that she will return for another guest appearance at the end of the season.
“I’ve done two episodes,” Tapping told the site. “I did their first two-parter and I’m at the very end of their season. And I just shot that a few weeks ago. So I started their season and I’m ending their season, which was very cool. But I didn’t get to play with anyone. If they were ever to have me come back, I’d want to be with people. I’m kind of off on my ship, which I think is awesome.”
The actress made a guest appearance in “Air, Part 1,” with Colonel Carter now in command of the Earth ship Hammond. The ship ferried characters to the Icarus Base, then unsuccessfully defended the outpost from an enemy attack.
Tapping said that seeing the U.S.S. George Hammond plaque (you can see it here) on the bridge of her ship was bittersweet for her. The newest addition to Earth’s fleet on the show was named in honor of actor Don S. Davis’s character after Davis passed way in 2008.
“I have to say, when I got to work, and I saw the uniform and the General Hammond crest on it, I teared up. I think it’s a great honor to, not only Don, but to the character. So that was very cool.”
The exact episode or episodes in which Tapping will appear have not been confirmed. Season One ends with a two-parter, titled “Incursion.” It will air next spring.

New details on SGU’s mid-season finale
Brand new info has surfaced for “Justice,” the tenth and final episode of Stargate Universe in 2009! The episode will serve as the show’s mid-season finale.
Here’s how TV Guide describes the episode:
Colonel Young cedes command to Camile Wray after a crew member is found dead from a gunshot wound and the gun is recovered from Young’s quarters. Meanwhile, a planet harbors a secret that threatens the Destiny.
And from U.K. broadcaster Sky1:
Shockwaves ripple when a member of the crew is killed, and Colonel Young finds himself in the frame. Meanwhile, Rush gains access to the Ancient interface.
Written by Alan McCullough and directed by William Waring, the episode was originally intended to be the ninth episode of the season — followed by the traditional mid-season two-parter, “Space” and “Divided.” When the episodes “Darkness” and “Light” were split from a single episode into two, “Justice” entered the mid-season finale slot.
The two-parter will kick off the second half of the 20-episode season when SGU returns, most likely in late March or early April.
Meanwhile, Syfy is offering viewers a chance to catch up on the entire first half of the season with a 10-episode marathon on Christmas Day (8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Eastern and Pacific time).

This wont be popular, but if Scott and Armstrong keep being key players in this series I'll have to stop watching. Which is a pity, because the rest of the characters are so much more interesting.
Armstrong to die with she's in childbirth with Scotts bastard child, and then it happens the child was born so quickly because of alien interaction and the kid kills Scott.

I have been a stargate fan for years now. SG1 is great, Atlantis is great but i have to say i'm really disappointed with Universe. The actors are really good, the characters are really good but the stories and the situation in general are really boring. SG1 ran around the galaxy fighting the Goa'uld, the Atlantis expedition were kicking some Wraith ass and this Universe bunch are running around a broken down old ship trying to keep the damn thing running. I really hope it gets better.
