- Formed in 1997, Thrice is an American post-hardcore band from Irvine, California, USA.
In 1999 they self-released an EP called First Impressions, of which only 1,000 copies were made. In 2000 they signed-up with Sub City and released two LPs: Identity Crisis and The Illusion of Safety', the former only receiving 1.5 stars in the AMG review, while the latter was widely acclaimed and received attention from major record labels. Unlike their other albums, The Illusion of Safety contained heavy metalcore influences.
In 2003 they signed up with Island Records and released The Artist in the Ambulance, which featured more structured songs while keeping true to their hardcore influences. In 2005 a DVD outlining their entire career thus far was released under the title If We Could Only See Us Now. It included a CD with live tracks from the Apple Store, and various B-sides.
Thrice have recorded their fourth album, Vheissu, and are traveling with the 2005 Warped Tour.
