Was fucking awesome. Can't believe it is over! Went to Portsmouth, St. Malo, Dinan, Dinard, Rennes, Jersey, Guernsey, Weymouth, "Lontron", Milan, Rome, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Bath, Brecon, Hay-on-Wye, Edinburgh and Glasgow. I'm shocked it has ended!

    • SCOBA REUNION IN LONDON

      "Hullo

      A LONDON REUNION - COMING SOON!

      It is a couple of years since we have had a reunion in London.

      With organising the big 90th the overseas reunions had to be put on the
      back foot. I am sorry about that as we had been having them annually.
      Anyway now is the time to rectify that and get organised.

      Several of you have offered to assist in making contact with other OBs and
      we need to find a venue.

      The proposed dates are 31 May - 1, 2, or 3 June -
      Nigel Gould (1961 - 65) (President of SCOBA) and Janine Gould will be in
      London and will join in - I need to know a preferred date will suit and
      we need also to decide an appropriate venue. If you send your preferences
      I could make an executive decision!!

      I have been in contact with Jason who is keen to help and believes there
      is time to circulate the information.

      As soon as I have a confirmed date and venue I will send over the list of
      contacts for some of you to follow up.

      So here are some details of those that this initial email has been sent to

      Nick Wilson - Head Prefect 2007
      Seb Reeves - 85 - 98
      Hamish McConnochie - 2007

      The last reunion was hosted by Jeffery Barratt (1961 - 67) at Norton Rose
      which was just so kind and generous of him. John Inglis (1971 - 76) is
      an OB and is also at Norton rose.

      I will get names and contacts to you when we have those dates and times.

      I am out of the office from 5 May for the week and back on 12 May so if
      you can get me some date and venue preference before the end of MY week I
      could get it moving before I leave on Friday.

      Thanks for your enthusiasm and offers of help to get this on the road. I
      look forward to hearing from you ALL !!!!

    • Amsterdam & London

      Just a little round up of my "trip"(ing..) in Amsterdam.

      It started on Good Friday, when I travelled from the pleasent Village of East Grinstead to the best airport in the world, London (S)Luton. It is. Seriously. You should visit sometime. Also spent some time in London Victoria station, which is a feat of modern engineering.

      So any way, tried to sleep there but it was rather difficult, especially with annoucements at 2 am. Got up at 3 or something liked that and checked in for the 6.15 am flight.

      Got to Amsterdam at about 8 am and went to where I was staying. If you ever go to Amsterdam, do not stay north of the IJ River. It is a living replica of Eastern Europe. It sucks. Especially if your host is a weird Dutch guy called Jaap Van Veep.

      In Amsterdam I tried the delights of Coffeeshops. Getting stoned was overated. All I did was feel really sick. I did sleep for 16 hours after I had it thought... Also went to the Sex Museum, which was, as Nicholas Meehan may or may not put it, interesting.

      Next day... watched Man United play Liverpool at an Irish Pub and then went to the Amsterdam Dunegon, which is this weird thing which is meant to scare you. It was more commical than scary. On an other note, Guinness seems to get crapper the further away you get from Ireland. It sucked. Luckily I'm in Eire now I guess! That night had dinner at an Argentine Steak house, which are really common in Amsterdam.

      Monday was museum day. Did Van Gough, Rijksmuseum and Ann Frank Huis. The last one was akward because some person thought I was Jewish... Rijksmuseum is good because 18 & under you get in for free. The best part was that night though, when we tried magic mushroom, the mexican style, which are the "weakest". Despite being the weakest, I still had a trip. This map in the room looking like it was flashing on the outside and the wall changed colour and started flashing to the music. I then went in to deep thought, thinking about shit like how society works and crap like that. I can't remember too much but it was a good time. The bad thing about it is that I couldn't get to sleep after having it. I would recommend Magic Mushroom over Coffeshops anyday, though both a worth a visit.

      Tuesday, went to a coffeeshop and tried "space cake", which at €5 a slice is well worth it... I felt nothing after having it. That night tried to do a Red Light district tour, but not enough turned up, so the host took us to a gay bar. Had a good time there. Gay bars are the places to go for cheap drinks - I paid €2.10 for Heineken there, whilst paying €6 for Guinness elsewhere, though that Guinness is a rip. Then did a self tour of the red light district, looking a every prostitute, some of whom are too bad. Also looked at the sex shops, though €49+ for a porn DVD was way too much. Did buy another product though. Slept that night at Schipol airport and left to London at 7am. Flew easyJet. Good times in Amsterdam. Make sure you get there this year if you're gapping.

      Arrived at Sluton Airport and took the long fucking bus trip to London Victoria and went Circle line to Cromwell Road. Stayed in a pretty sweet youth hostel, which is runned by this guy called Ricky from New Zealand. Gud cunt. That afternoon, had a look round London, at sights such as Piccadilly Circus, Palace of Westminster, London Eye and Tower Bridge. Was brill. Then headed to Brixton Academy for the Velvet Revolver concert. Well worth the £34.50. Fucking amazing. Apparently it was the longest set they have ever played. Its a shame they may be breaking up. Scott was class, as was Slash's solo. Would so do it again.

      Now in Dublin after having to get to Stansted, another one of London's conviently located airports. Staying in Temple Bar. Should be a riot!
