The main character, Kiba, is a determined and mysterious wolf who's in search of "Paradise", a fabled land that only wolves will be able to sniff out after the end of the world, or so the ledgend goes.

Kiba is joined by Toboe, a bright-eyed and enthusiastic pup, Hige, a spunky carefree type, Tsume, a hard-boiled loner, and eventually by Blue, a half-wolf half-dog. Kiba is exiled from the city. Now the four wolves struggle to survive in the war-torn land.

Tsume is a gray wolf. He is very cold at times and is not very friendly at the beginning of the show. He is a very loyal person and if one of his partners is in danger, human or wolf, he will try to help them. He does not believe that Paradise is real.

We first meet him as a leader of a gang of human robbers. This is when he meets Kiba, a white wolf, and the two begin to fight after Kiba says Tsume has no pride as a wolf. That is when Kiba is shot by Quent Yaiden and taken to the police station.

Later Kiba and Tsume team up along with Hige, a light brown wolf, and Toboe, a brown wolf, to find Paradise.

He is close to Toboe, though he does not show it very much. He first didn't like him since Toboe was raised as a dog ever since he was a puppy.

As the show goes deeper into the plot, Tsume becomes a little more friendly to the other wolves he is traveling with, and starts to like Toboe a lot more. But still, he does not show it that much, but it's a little more then before.

Hige is the most "charming" of the four main wolves. He met Kiba in the experimental lab where Cheza is held. Kiba had been caught and Hige helps him escape.

Hige begins to show Kiba the human's way of life and how to be like them in order to get by without a fuss. He for the most part likes to think things through and not just jump into things.

Toboe is the most "tame" of the characters in Wolf's Rain. I think he's the only one of the main four wolves that ever had a "master." His owner died and he misses her, but he still warms up to people fairly easily. He's eager to please, and obviously doesn't like to be alone and wants to have friends.

The youngest and most naive of the four wolves, Toboe was raised by an old human woman in the city. Treated like a dog most of his life, he lacks the street smarts and survival skills that the others posses.

After his owner died, Tsume takes care of him. Then they meet Hige and Kiba and they basically become a pack. He really cares about his new friends (Tsume, Hige, and Kiba), but he is especially attached to Tsume.

Blue is Quent's companion through the beginning of the series, helping him hunt down the "savage" wolves. After meeting Cheza, however, she discovers that she, herself, is part wolf. Following this, she meets up with the other wolves while being chased by some men. They end up helping her out, so she follows them on their search for the legendary Paradise.

Quent is an ex-sheriff from the town of Kyrios. He hunts wolves after blaming them for the destruction of his town and death of his family.

Quent is Blue's owner, Quent son found Blue when she was a pup out in the woods. He is very fond of alcohol and is seen sometimes in a bar or drinking from his flask when he's not looking for the wolf pack of Kiba, Tsume, Toboe, and Hige.

Cheza was made from a Lunar flower. She is probably the last of her kind. Kiba and the gang first saw Cheza when Darcia had taken her from that research lab where Cher worked at.

Darcia, at that point, was then attempting to take her to his keep via his "plane." As he was heading toward his keep, he was thwarted by other forces. Throughout the whole commotion, it just so happened that Kiba and the gang were in the area, and Kiba knew Cheza was there somewhere. So as Darcia's distracted by the opposition, Cheza escapes the plane-thing by floating down.

Her ability is to guide wolves to Paradise, since she has knowledge of where it is. She also knows how to control plants. She has a sp
