Youth Chex went on residential between the 23rd and 25th of March 2007, to Whittaugh Park, Newcastleton.

At this residential we had 29 young people from Youth Chex at this residential, we were also joined by West Dumbartonshire Youth Trust, they brought 10 young people. They prepared and gave a presentation to us about their project and we then did the same and gave a less formal presentation about Youth Chex to them. Including in the presentations was a chance to share ideas and work we had done and learn a bit about projects that both groups had funded.

Out of the 29 young people Youth Chex had away a lot of them were new panel members who were welcomed into the group, and given an insight into Youth Chex life!! As the first welcoming activity from new panel members was role play of Youth Chex in different TV show styles, some of the shows chosen were Little Britain, Top Gear, Eastenders, Still Game and The Simpsons.

We did some Team Building exercises which were organised by Whittaugh, these activities were Archery and High Ropes Course. Alan and Jenny also organised an Easter Egg hunt which was again used to include new panel members, and encouraged working in teams.

We were also joined by Anna from Borders Forest Trust, who helped Youth Chex get in touch with nature, and start thinking about different environmental project that the environmental fund. This involved building and lighting a camp fire, creating woodland art and familiarised ourselves with nature.

We had a promotion and marketing workshop, where we looked at different promotion ideas, which included the designing of the Youth Chex brochure, after we were given this opportunity by New Ways after our success at their awards and the borders-wide presentation pack and also looked at ideas from the Youth Chex DVD, which will be getting made in the near future. We also watched the DVD made by the Tweeddale panel about good and bad interview skills.

The residential was a great success, and filled with lots of laughs, it is safe to say all the young people and workers involved had an amazing time!!!
