    • The Final Straw

      The day they said those things was going to be the end of everything.
      “I hate you”, “you don’t belong here”, “you will never fit in”.
      Why did people have to be so cruel?
      Lunchtime came and I got butterflies in my stomach as my heart pounded with fear.
      I knew exactly what was coming.
      I went to the study room to try and hide from the rest of the world.
      But didn’t succeed.
      They came in, the people I fear most.
      They started again, screaming, shouting, threatening.
      The tears started to fall once again.
      Id had enough.
      This was the final straw.


      I packed up my stuff and walked out.
      Ideas going through my head of how to try and end it.
      In a cold dark alley.
      The train line?
      The farm barn?
      And then it hit me, the forest!
      This was the final straw.


      I walked out of school.
      Not telling no one, but.
      With a vague idea of where I was going.
      Then I saw it.
      The forest.
      Ideas came into mind.
      This was the final straw.


      I walked to the best tree possible.
      By the trunk was rope.
      It was like someone knew this was going to happen.
      I threw the rope over the branch that hung out the side.
      Levelled each end up and tied a knot.
      Followed by the loop, big enough to fit over my head.
      The rope was in place all I needed was something to stand on.
      This was the final straw.

      I set off to find something.
      There was bound to be something here somewhere.
      It was a forest after all.
      At last I found a small table that had been dumped.
      I took it back to the tree.
      Placed it underneath the rope.
      This was the final straw.


      I searched in my school bag for a piece of paper and a pen.
      I rested on the wet, muddy table and began to write.
      ‘I cnt do dis ne more’.
      ‘Ive ad enouf of evryfing’.
      ‘Im rele sorry 4 evryfing’.
      ‘This is the final straw’.


      I folded up the letter and placed it on top of my bag.
      Shaking, I stood on the table.
      Placed my head thorough the loop.
      Feeling angry, ashamed, upset and depressed.
      I kicked the table away.
      I fell!
      The rope pulled tight on my neck.
      I began to smile.
      And I whispered to myself happily.
      ‘This is the final straw!’
