DRFC Update
- O'Kelly praises Mustapha
Rovers assistant manager Richard O'Kelly has praised the attitude of young defender Mustapha Dumbuya, even though he has not yet made an impact on the first team since joining the club in the summer.
O'Kelly said of the former Potters Bar player: "He's doing tremendously well in training. He's really looking the part. We'd have absolutely no problem putting him in the side if we were short. He's learning all the time. You are looking at him being an attacking full-back because of the attributes he has got."
Player Update
Wright gets leave of absence
- Former Rovers loan defender Alan Wright has been given a short leave of absence by Fleetwood Town to enable him to take part in the Masters Tour of Asia, which takes place this week in Vietman and Malaysia. Wright will be representing Sheffield United in the tournament, although he will represent the Liverpool team in an eleven-a-side match against the Vietman national team.
The defender has played 14 matches for Fleetwood so far this season, scoring the opening goal in last weekend's 8-0 win over Redditch United.
Wright said: “I spoke with the gaffer and he gave me the go ahead. It’s worked out well regarding our Blue Square North fixture list. I’ll be playing for Sheffield United this time and I’ll also represent the Liverpool team in an XI aside against the Vietnam national team. It will be good to catch up with a few faces from the past but I won’t be treating it as a holiday. We’ve some tough games coming up in the league and my match fitness will be kept going with the games over there.”
Also taking part in the tournament will be former Rovers striker Brian Deane.
Goal Update
-Adebayo Akinfenwa brace earned Northampton Town a point as they drew 2-2 at home to Crewe Alexandra after being 2-0 down at half time.
- Michael Rankine scored the only goal of the game for York City in their victory at AFC Wimbledon.
- Ex-Rovers youth player Rob O'Brien scored for Bradford Park Avenue in their 3-1 win over Frickley Athletic. Also scoring for Bradford yesterday was ex-Rovers defender Jamie Price -- Tristram Whitman is having a good season for Carlton Town - he scored again yesterday as they won 2-1 at Market Drayton Town in the UniBond First Division

What the mangers said
Sean O'Driscoll
Not surprisingly, Sean O'Driscoll was highly satisfied with the performance of his Rovers side yesterday afternoon.
He said: "I thought we were excellent. We've had great performances and not had the right results and sometimes we have played, in our eyes, poorly and got points. But we ticked all the boxes today; we got the right performance and the right result. You could see the confidence after the first goal. It's nice to see. The chests came out, everyone wanted the ball. When they get like that we are difficult to beat."
O'Driscoll insisted that, despite mixed results this season, Rovers will continue to attempt to play with style. He continued: "We have been ahead in a lot of big games and not quite been able to get a result but we have learnt from the experience, got better and looked good. We had a sequence of about 35 passes at one point and I think we deserved the result. The result is important but if you put the emphasis on winning, the outcome is more important than the processes and we work on processes. If you play right then the results will come."
Jim Magilton
QPR boss Jim Magilton was very disappointed with how his players performed, and was especially disappointed with the two goals conceded.
Magilton commented: "I was very disappointed for both goals. We were architects of our own downfall in some ways. I thought it was an even game, but at times we looked lethargic, as if we had had two weeks off. We looked like we had lads who had been reading nice things about themselves. We had opportunities and moments, but Doncaster are a good side and we didn't take our chances. It's difficult because we set high standards and we fell. At half-time I felt we should go for the game but Jay's miss summed up our afternoon. For the last half-hour it was as poor as they have played for me. I can't be too hard on them because they have been very good until now."
At least Magilton praised Rovers for their performance, in which Rangers were totally outplayed. He said: "Doncaster pride themselves on the football they play and they were better than us today - it's as simple as that. We've set ourselves standards and we fell below them - we just fell asleep for the first goal."0 Comments 1 hour

DRFC UPDATE
Injury update
- On loan defender Jason Shackell faces a fitness test ahead of this afternoon's game at the Keepmoat Stadium as he battles to overcome a groin injury.
Sean O'Driscoll told the Doncaster Star: "It's touch and go whether we risk him. Jason spent yesterday with the physios so that we make sure we don't throw him in too early. He'll train and then see how he is."
The chances of Adam Lockwood and Byron Webster also look to be slim, with O'Driscoll commenting: "Saturday is probably a little bit to soon for them, but at least it gives us the option of putting them on the bench, which we didn't have at Plymouth."
Physio John Dickens confirms that striker Steve Brooker is still on schedule to return to full training either late this month or early in December. He also mentioned that skipper Martin Woods, who misses today's game due to suspension, may have broken his nose in the Plymouth Argyle fixtuer. Dickens said: "It is still swollen but we are just leaving it a few days to see how it settles down and take it from there - though obviously if Martin has any breathing problems we'll get it looked at it. "We might send him to the specialist and see if he wants to do an X-ray. If it is broken Martin might need an operation at some stage, but if that was the case he'd probably have it done in the close season."
Lockwood keeps busy
- Rovers defender Adam Lockwood has been keeping busy during his enforced absence from the side in recent weeks, as he watches games closely to learn more about the game.
He told the Press Association: "I'm not going to say it hasn't been frustrating because it has, no player finds it easy watching matches. But you can learn things about the game looking on from the sidelines, new things, stuff you might not become aware of when you're playing."
Player UPDATE
Kinnear for Scotland
- Former Rovers manager Joe Kinnear has set his eyes on a new job - he is one of the latest names to throw his name into the hat for the vacant position as manager of the Scottish national side.
He told Sky Sports News: "When I left Tottenham I moved on abroad and my first job abroad was as manager of India. I was out there for two years, so I started off with an international side. I missed out on, I think, two occasions to be the manager of Ireland, which would always have been a dream job for me. But sure, why not? I'll throw my hat in the ring. If they felt they (Scotland) wanted to interview me, I'd be more than happy to go along and talk."0 Comments 1 day

"
O'Connor played absoutly amazing and was the man of the match for me, with his last ditch tackles and heading and intercepting
G.Roberts was quality at keeping Routledge at bay, there isant many in this league that can do that, there was a few times that he got passed, but Roberts got back quick enough to stop him been dangerous
Fortune- won quite alot in the air and passed the ball very well
Gillett- Played amazing football in the centre midfield, passing the ball really well and tackling back very well aswell
Chambers- found so much space down that right side many times
Oster, Coppinger, Hird, Sullivan played excellent aswell
ROVERS TILL I DIE"
"

battered them in second half
i thort they were really poor tbh
but shiels and sharp were quality.
