    • Purple Tommy V.s. TRD's???

      A Justin Collins story........
      The Purple Tommy - Rough Diamonds feud is a famous power struggle taking place between two rock hard bands in Derry, Northern Ireland. Many sources claim that the rivalry has developed in the depths of St. Columb's College in the city where some members of the bands often rub shoulders and express their viewpoint over which band is more talented, however, others claim that it all began in the notable classy musical emporium, the Dungloe.

      Purple Tommy, featuring The Dolphinator, Aaron Devine, Declan Donahoe and last but certainly not least Stephen McCafferty (who goes by his stage name Worm), are in fact not one bit purple, but indeed red hot. Actually, this Wikipedian would go so far as to say white hot, but that's irrelevant right now. They currently have no songs uploaded on their band's Bebo page, and this is perhaps an indication that they do not feel they have yet achieved "the perfect sound". In the other corner - The Rough Diamonds - a hard as nails group of tough mercenaries committed to one thing and one thing only, music. Led by the oft-charismatic Rory Cregan (surprisingly not from Creggan. From Culmore in fact), his merry band of henchmen include "Bradz" (with an almost tongue-in-cheek Z), known to the masses as "Fat Bradz", Shea O'Doherty, famous for "taking a dump" on the roof of the NWIFHE building and Conor "Simo" Simpson who is rarely seen without 2 Litres of the finest Strongbow cider. Presumably turning to the booze has helped Simpson think of ingenious lyrics such as "Young man sitting...". Their hits include "Life" and "My Heaven", and by hits I don't mean hits at all, although "My Heaven" is quite a catchy number. They hope to release an album featuring these hits in the coming months, provisionally titled 'The Ultimate Rough Diamonds' or 'T.U.R.D.' for short. It was these so-called hits that were the subject of much ridicule in May 2007 when the feud escalated into a vicious bout of verbal fisticuffs and general handbag stuff following the publication and spread of the infamous "Rough Diamond Tribute Band" video, featuring Aidan "Off His Tits" Allen, Mark "Monoginge" Monaghan and Lorcnad Cooper along with Purple Tommy's guiding star Stephen "Worm" Mc Cafferty. The origins of the idea for making this video are unknown, however, it is known that Aaron "Grinch" Devine had brought the camera and directed the video. In the video, many references are made to the Capitalist nature of The Rough Diamonds (or TRD as they are more fondly known) citing the extortionate entrance fee of "£8" to their gigs, and their love of their spiritual home, the Dungloe, is not forgotten with the humorous reference "We're here in the Dungloe... again!!" Threatening to explode into all-out mass warfare, The Rough Diamonds released the following statement, writing from their collective brand spanking-new expensive laptop bought with Purple Tommy's share of the money from a previous gig: "mccaffs get a fucking clue ur piss at the guitar and u have a worm as a cock and i dont give a fuck wat u got to say." This was quite sad to see, and can be seen as their fall from grace, however, a spokesman for Purple Tommy responded in similar fashion, referring to "Bradz" as a "fat fuck. u r the single most ugly wee creature iv ever seen in me life."

      It is hoped that in the coming Summer months, the two bands can most certainly not set aside their differences, and instead have many face-offs at a venue of your choosing (most likely being the Dungloe). Things may get nasty, with the Derry Journal quoting Zombie McCafferty of Purple Tommy as saying "I don't care if Rory Cregan straightens his hair, he's going down! Not even his Jeep will save him while the funkiest riffs and most face-melting solos are in his face!", so you'd be well advised to bring some sort of crash helmet contraption to any future gigs.       10.Complaining about the brand of free beer in a buddy's refrigerator is forbidden. You may gripe if the temperature is unsuitable.

      11.No man is ever required to buy a birthday present for another man. In fact, even remembering a friends birthday is strictly optional and slightly gay.

      12.Agreeing to distract the ugly friend of a hot babe that your buddy is trying to hook up with is your legal duty. Should you get carried away with your good deed and end up having sex with her, your pal is forbidden to speak of it, even at your bachelor party.

      13.Before dating a buddy's "ex", you are required to ask his permission and he in return is required to grant it.

      14.Women who claim they "love to watch sports" must be treated as spies until they demonstrate knowledge of the game and the ability to pick a buffalo wing clean.

      15.If a man's zipper is down, that's his problem. * You didn't see nothin'.

      16.The universal compensation for buddies who help you move is beer.

      17.A man must never own a cat or like his girlfriend's cat.

      18.When stumbling upon other guys watching a sports event, you may always ask the score of the game in progress, but you may never ask who's playing.

      19.When your girlfriend/wife expresses a desire to fix her whiny friend up with your pal, you may give her the go-ahead only if you'll be able to warn your buddy and give him time to prepare excuses about joining the priesthood.

      20.It is permissible to consume a fruity chick drink only when you're sunning on a tropical beach... and a topless supermodel delivers it...and it's free.

      21.Unless you're in prison, never fight naked.

      22.A man in the company of a hot, suggestively dressed woman must remain sober enough to fight.

      23.If a buddy is outnumbered, out manned, or too drunk to fight, you must jump into the fight. Exception: If within the last 24 hours his actions have caused you to think, "What this guy needs is a good ass-whoopin", then you may sit back and enjoy.
