Tutto su di me: I'm Tsimshian from Metlakatla, Alaska and a doctoral student in Art History at the University of British Columbia!

My fiance Mike Dangeli and I have set our wedding date: August 9, 2010! Our Anniversary sould be easy to remember 8-9-10. Luckily, he is patience enough to wait until I get my PhD before we tie the knot. My goal is to reach Candidacy in 09, which will make me a PhC, really I'm not joking..

I have published four articles, three of which derive from my Master's thesis on Tsimshian Photographer B.A. Haldane (1874-1941) and one on Tlingit photographer Larry McNeil (see my blog for details).

Mike and I are the leaders of the Git Hayetsk Dancers, an internationally-renown Northwest Coast mask dancing group based out of Vancouver, BC. Our dancers are from the Tsimshian, Nisga'a, Gitksan, Haida, Haisla, and Tlingit Nations. We will be dancing in Manitoba at Folk Lore Rama in August and at Indian Summer in Wisconsin in September (see Git Hayetsk Group).

Music: Pink, Gwen Stefani, Macy Gray, Corrine Bailey Rae, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Tom Petty, Furgie, White Strips, Ozzy, Kanye West, George Leach..I like just about everything - oldies too. Mike and I love to chill to Bob Marley's album Legend.
Films: SUPER BAD! Knocked-Up, Beowolf, 300, Old School, Anchorman, 40 year-old Virgin, All of Robot Chicken Seasons and Family Guy. Yeah my taste in movies is messed up. I think its my escape from the mental abuse of GRAD SCHOOL. It would suck to be serious all the time.
Sports: I used to play basketball, I miss it sometimes. But now I'm all about Yoga! I love everything about it. Its a total body workout that reduces stress and massages your internal organs. It's awesome for cirulation, flexibility, lung capacity, and even your brain.
Drinks: Hmmm, I try to stick to water but my preferred juice is POM - I Love pomegranate juice and its sooo good for you. Lately, I have been into V8, like the real tomato kind. Is that a sign of old age?
Happiest When: That is a hard one...definately every moment with Mike, visiting with my sister, spending time with my niece and newphews, playing with Rocko, performing with our dance group, hanging out with friends.

So where and when in Wisconsin are you going to be dancing? That is only one state away. Maybe there is a possibility of us driving up it the time is good and its not to far.

How are you, wow you are travelling with your dance group - awesome.. Wishing you safe travels to you and your group.. I was suppose to travel to Met. with my children this summer, but I have one more course to finish up and a bunch of other small matters.. yeah - hopefully next time we will eventually get there... How you and Mike doing? Been doing pretty good over here. Can't say much for the weather tho, it's been one of those rainy summers so far. I'm sorry that things didn't work out with the school district, I was hoping that it would have worked out. I know the kids would have loved that. You sure know how to connect with the school age kids.
My kids and I are still in 4th Generation dance group and we just love. It's so much fun, we have a blast. We went to Juneau for Celebration '08 and that was so much fun. We are fundraising to try to make it to Seattle to dance there in September. I won't be go but that's ok, I hate flying. We also are planning to attend All Native in Rupert for their 50th anniversary. I hope we can make it there.
I just want to steal your puppy, he's so cute. Take care and enjoy the rest of your summer.
