The Artist In Training PREP recital was held in April at the Washington University Music School. The recital featured eight selected ninth and tenth grade students from four SLPS high schools. Participants included: Hillary Smith and Symonne Sparks (Soldan), Donnice Schilling, Tre’von Griffith and Jeffrey Mitchell (Central), Michelle Spears and Katarra Parson (Gateway), and Mary Hardcastle (Metro). The students received private instruction from internationally acclaimed opera artists in preparation for their recitals. They will also be given additional support to prepare for the open auditions for the prestigious Artist In Training program, sponsored by Opera Theatre.
