Tutto su di me
This Group is for both NSW & QLD Fans.

The Rugby League State of Origin is an annual best-of-three series of rugby league matches between the Maroons, representing the state of Queensland, and the Blues, representing the state of New South Wales.

The State of Origin series is one of Australia's and the region's premier sporting events, attracting a huge television audience and usually selling out the stadiums in which the games are played. State of Origin series have a reputation as the toughest, hardest-fought rugby league matches played anywhere in the world.

NSW Blues or QLD Maroons?

Since the inception of the series (25 Years), total victories for each side are extraordinarily even.

  • NSW Slays QLD in Game One of Origin

NSW coach Craig Bellamy, the man with the plan, last night watched his Blues seal one of the most comprehensive coaching performances in Origin history when Anthony Laffranchi touched down with 12 minutes to go to give NSW an 18-4 lead.

Bellamy's tactics, and his players' commitment to them, proved too much for an outmatched and outbashed Queensland outfit, the Blues eventually winning 18-10 in front of 67,620 fans.

The reputation of what many were hailing as the best Queensland backline in history is not quite in tatters, but they're down on points with two rounds to go.

The Blues virtually nullified the impact of Queensland's two chief playmakers, Johnathan Thurston and Cameron Smith, limiting the star-studded Queensland backline to just two tries in 80 minutes. It was stunning in its precision.

"You never have your players go 100 per cent right, but they were pretty close," Bellamy said.

"We decided the things we were going to do and we went out and did them.

"You can't ask them for any more than that."

Bustled by the Blues, Queensland found difficulty implementing their own gameplan and played far too laterally early, while failing to apply nearly enough pressure to the Blues in defence.

One Queensland strategy was obvious, but proving difficult. Time and again the message from assistant Neil Henry crackled through the headsets on the sideline.

"We have to find Wallace," he would scream.

"We need to get at Wallace."

They needed to, they just couldn't.

It was a promising beginning for Peter Wallace, the debutant, whose early nerves soon dissolved with two neat kicks to round off the Blues' first two sets, including a line-break clean through the Maroons' defence.

Indeed, it was a whole lot of glorious beginnings for the Blues, not the least of which is the new era that has swept in as they head to Queensland in prime position to wrap up the series.

After Wallace's second kick, from which Brent Tate was trapped a metre from the Queensland tryline, the Maroons managed to advance the ball only 17m before Thur- ston was forced to a fifth-tackle kick.

It put the Blues in perfect attacking position - and they capitalised.

Working left and deep into Queensland's red zone, Greg Bird face-passed across Paul Gallen, finding Ryan Hoffman in space who tossed a loose one to Brett Stewart outside him.

Stewart reached behind him on the run and managed to reel the ball in, drawing Billy Slater to put Anthony Quinn over in the corner.

The game was just four minutes old.

Quinn scored again 14 minutes later, on the end of a Wallace chip to the corner, and it rattled the Queenslanders. Gradually, the Blues gameplan was coming to life.

Force the pace and roll over the advantage line as the heavier, more cumbersome Queensland forwards struggled back to the defensive line.

Once the set was used up, Wallace then kicked deep and to the left corner, away from Greg Inglis and Israel Folau, to set up Queensland's return set. They then bashed Slater in the process, a reminder of what was coming next time, too.

When Queensland failed to penetrate on tackle one, the Blues were then able to dominate the rest of the set.

And Smith and Thurston struggled under the smothering defence.

"We were looking at the videotape of last year," Danny Buderus said, "and we gave (Smith) too much latitude.

"A lot of their players we gave too much latitude. We had to rectify that to win the game and we were effective doing that tonight."

    Buderus was magnificent.

All around him men just kept getting up and knocking Maroon jerseys over, and none led better than the captain.

NSW pushed the lead to 14-0 five minutes before halftime when Stewart scored, but Queensland - unsurprisingly and unfailingly - reminded the Blues they were still there when Tate crossed to narrow the gap to 14-4 literally as the halftime siren was sounding.

The second half settled into something of a dogfight, Queensla
