Well on monday the 16th of june i started my apprenticeship with Robert Davidson. I start at 8am and finish at 4pm (technically) if i want to finish then. This week we have been learning about Woodgrain, and how to cut wood. Our first project is to make a small dance/kids size paddle out of yellow cedar. So far its been going great. Got stuck on one part, near the end of the paddle handle, but its getting sorted out. And now im almost at the finishing up stages to smooth it out, and sand it. Then a design after that. Next will be making spoons/laddels from Alder wood. Been trying to learn as much as I can and absorb the info that is needed. Not bad for having a paddle near completion in 4 days for a beginner, and will only expect that it will become more natural, and the quickness will speed up, as i gain more experience. Well what to write... Whats new in the life of Rob? I received funding so from YVR in the form of an award. Which means that I will soon be begining my carving apprenticeship. Im so excited to begin learning, and gaining experience. I cannot wait...

LOL, you must be getting older when you start to feel that you are getting older...hehe just seeing lots of things in my life that are changing. Not to say that they are changing for the bad, only that they are changing, in need of change, or have changed already. Its been a while since I last updated this thing or changed anything or even looked at it... Was going through the mail on here and its been over 28 Weeks since I last had a mail from someone it said... I wonder if its just me thats is that disconnected from everyone else? Probably, thats just me... Here one minute than dissapear till I pop up again...lol... Well its a new year since I last wrote on here and sad as it is, not much has changed since my last confession father...lol... However im sure ive sinned more... hehe. However I am hopefull that this year will bring some good change into my life and others around me... Right now im waiting to see if get some funding, so that i can pursue a path in the arts. I have the opertunity to apprentice in Haida Carving with Robert Davidson. Which to me is such a awesome oppertunity, as well a once in a life time one... So my fingers are double crossed that it will come through. Work for me at the moment is a bit stale however its never dull, theres always drama somewhere in it... Got to spend part of the Xmas holidays with my Sister, her BF, and my nephew, which was awesome. Most time ive got to spend with them especially my sister in a long time. Theres times where i wish i lived back home so that i could better connect with her and my nephew, however i know that being back there at this time in my life is just not the right thing to do. Im not ready for that life style yet. Umm... Been kind of realizing how time really does fly by which is part of why I think im feeling older... This year is the 10 year reunion for Highschool which still at times feels kinda fresh in the memory like it wasnt all that long ago... Guess it really wasnt super long ago however was not yesterday... things change and go on by and before you know it its gone... I think its time to take time for me and do things i want to do. As the saying goes "You only live life once". And i think im just starting to realize that i need to start doing things and not worry so much about others... Things will go on either way.. just have to adjust to them as they happen... anywho... my brain is just blabbing away now... so lets cut it off here till another time...
