- "One life to live. One life to give. All to Jesus and none of me."
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" (I Cor.2:9).
Oh, just to have Jesus...is the sweetest thing in the world. Such love, such mercy that He has demostrated to us. Why are we so afraid to let go our all to Him? Everyday I hear Him calling me...come and sit at my feet; listen and obey that your soul shall be made fat. Things in this world has left me disappointed, empty, and angry.
Currently, I'm back in school (full-time)and at the same time working at the Gap. I go to Somerset Christian College. Best college ever after Mt. Zion. Also, I help out a lot in the church. I'm leading the young people. Lately, God has been bringing new faces to the group, which is wonderful. Anyway, I'm so thankful to the Lord for His grace and mercy. My life is getting better and better year after year. I'm satisfied.
- LISTEN TO...
- Hillsongs, Ray Boltz, Keith Green (this guy is contagious; his passion gets into your veins)... just to name a few.
- MY EYES SEES...
- Well...I guess... I like history a lot, so anything that is historical. As you know History Channel is one of my favorite show to watch. I have a longing to teach history someday.
- EXERCISE IS GOOD
- I'm a chess person, but I like the NY Yankees and NJ Nets. I like to try any kind of sport...even the extreme ones.
- WHICH DRINK?
- Nothing taste like water. Pina Colada (virgin) brother... is one of the best. I like Coke more than Pepsi...I change my mind ginger ale is my fav soda now.
- IDEAS HAVE SET FIRES
- Of course, the Bible man! Anything that is written by these authors: Watchman Nee, Andrew Murray, Francine Rivers, Madame Guyon (this lady is an inspiration), Fenelon (this guy is such a good counselor), Stephen Lawhead, Mary Baxter, Rebecca Brown, Gene Edwards, and others. Francine Rivers has become my favorite fiction author right now...I greatly encourage you read her books.
- What is faith (in Christ)?
- It's more than a mental assent. It is not an emotion. It is gain when GOD has revealed Himself to you in a very personal way. Faith is rooted in love and trust. Believing in Jesus means you are willing to folow Him even to the grave.
- The Race
- "Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but [only] one receives the prize? So run [in your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours. Now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temperately and restricts himself in all things. They do it to win a wreath that will soon wither, but we [do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness] that cannot wither. Therefore I do not run uncertainly (without definite aim). I do not box like one beating the air and shrinking without an adversary. But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit[not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as counterfeit]. I Cor. 9:24-27

True Essence of Love
Jesus said, “This is my command, ‘That ye love one another, as I have loved you”’ (Jn. 15:12). Do we really understand what Jesus meant by loving one another? Do we actually comprehend the true definition of love? Is love a feeling, a mental assent, or is it something else? What is love? God is love. Until we have experienced the love of God, we will not be able to truly grasp the meaning of love.
Is love a feeling? No, love is more than an emotion. Love has feelings, but it is not a feeling. Many people assume love is a feeling. When they feel attracted to someone they might say that they are falling “in love.” But when the feeling is gone, they leave that relationship. If we say love is a feeling, then we would have reduced love to the fickleness of our emotions. But some would still argue about their feeling of being “in love”--if it is not love, then what is it? It is a strong feeling of attraction. Keith Miller said that it is the first stage of genuine love (Miller 97). He said “strong feelings of being ‘in love’ motivate us to get into a relationship with God or another person so that we can discover whether or not real love is going to develop” (Miller 97). He adds that “it is only when the initial feelings subside that we can discover whether or not genuine love is going to develop” (Miller 97). So, if love is more than a feeling, what is genuine love? To see and know true love we must look at Jesus Christ who gave his life for our sins.
Jesus Christ exemplified the real meaning of love. In the garden of Gethsemane, he demonstrated to us that love is not a feeling at all (Mt 26:36-46). When confronted with a choice of obeying the will of God, Jesus didn’t have warm feelings of love at all. He struggled in prayer whether to drink the cup of suffering or not. Christ obeyed God in spite of his fear because of his love for the Father and us. His love was not based on his emotions but on his commitment to the Father.
In Christ Jesus we find true love manifested. He came from heaven to show us the real meaning of love. The love that we have in us is tainted by the fall of Adam. Human love is but an echo of the love that is from God. When man was separated from God, genuine love departed from him because God is love (1 Jn 4:
. One of the reasons Jesus came is to restore true love in man. God desires that through Christ we will be able once again know perfect love. In John 17:28, Jesus prayed, “And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love where with thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” Christ clearly shows that love is only found in God.
If love is not a feeling then it is a mental attitude since Jesus consented to the will of the Father when he was struggling in the garden. No, love is not a mental assent either. Jesus’ agony in the garden is a reflection of his deep commitment to the Father because he knows the Father’s love. His love was not based on his deep commitment but on his Father’s love for him. Christ’s obedience showed the reality of God’s love within him. That is the reason he so desires that the love of the Father may be in us. Jesus knows that unless we experienced God’s love we will never fully understand the true meaning of love.
Once again, what is true love? True love is not a feeling or a mental assent. We cannot really fully define it. It can only be captured in God. Love has its foundation in God. God is the source of love. To really know love, we have to know God. To define love is to define God because God is love. Love’s essence is in God. Without God there is no real love. We have a glimpse of the real meaning of love through the Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle John testified, “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that1 commentaire 671 jours

57 Cents That Made History
A sobbing little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it 'was too crowded'. "I can't go to Sunday School," she sobbed to the pastor as he walked by. Seeing her shabby, unkempt appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found a place for her in the Sunday School class. The child was so touched that she went to bed that night thinking of the children who have no place to worship Jesus.
Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of the poor tenement buildings and the parents called for the kind-hearted pastor, who had befriended their daughter, to handle the final arrangements. As her poor little body was being moved, a worn and crumpled purse was found which seemed to have been rummaged from some trash dump. Inside was found 57 cents and a note scribble in childish handwriting which read, "This is to help build the little church bigger so more children can go to Sunday school."
For two years she had saved for this offering of love. When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knew instantly what he would do.
Carrying this note and the cracked, red pocketbook the pulpit, he told the story of her unselfish love and devotion. He challenged his deacons to get busy and raise enough money for the larger building. But the story does not end there!
A newspaper learned of the story and published it. It was read by a realtor who offered them a parcel of land worth many thousands. When told that the church could not pay so much, he offered it for a 57 cent payment.
Church members made large subscriptions. Checks came from far and wide. Within five years the little girl's gift had increased to $250,000.00 - a huge sum for that time (near the turn of the century). Her unselfish love had paid large dividends.
When you are in the city of Philadelphia, look up Temple
Baptist Church, with a seating capacity of 3,300, and Temple University, where hundreds of students are trained. Have a look, too, at the Good Samaritan Hospital and at a Sunday School building which houses hundreds of Sunday scholars, so that no child in the area will ever need to be left outside at Sunday school time.
In one of the rooms of this building may be seen the picture of the sweet face of the little girl whose 57 cents, so sacrificially saved, made such remarkable history. Alongside of it is a portrait of her kind pastor, Dr. Russel H. Conwell, author of the book, "Acres of Diamonds." - a true story.

Eternal Rewards
In church today we sang "Count Your Many Blessings." It's a song I've sung my whole life, but when we got to the third verse, an overwhelming understanding of the eternal nature of our existence came over me. It goes:
When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings wealth can never buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.
I'll be honest with you; I've never been one to be greatly motivated by "heavenly rewards." While I have no doubt that those rewards are real and tangible, I can't quite wrap my mind around them. I'm more often motivated by God's rewards in the here and now. I know that we are blessed when we obey God's commands. I know that He showers blessings on those who seek to follow Him. Many of those blessings come in mortality, but I cannot even begin to comprehend the magnitude of blessings that await the faithful in the eternities.
In Isaiah 65, the prophet Isaiah speaks of the Millennial reign of Jesus Christ and how peaceful and wonderful it will be on earth. Whether I live to see that day or not, I know that death is not the end, and the place where our Father dwells is even more glorious than Isaiah's description of the Millennium. Verse 17 of this chapter says, "For behold I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered nor come into mind." The future is so bright, we won't even think about these days!
A gentleman I know compared mortality to the movie Groundhog Day. Perhaps you've seen the movie with Bill Murray where he has to keep living February 2nd over and over until he sheds his selfishness. This life -- this Groundhog Day sort of existence where one day looks very much like the next -- is not indicative of eternity. We are spiritual beings having a mortal experience. The joys, triumphs, concerns, pain and sadness of this world are not reflections of eternity. We've been put in a rock tumbler to be polished for a short time, but the tumbler isn't where we'll stay eternally.
As a matter of fact, this fleeting existence of 70-80 years on earth is nothing but a blip in the story of our existence. When we are in God's presence, these former days won't even come to mind -- anymore than we would now obsess over a box of crayons lost in Kindergarten.
As we sang the third verse of Count Your Many Blessings, I realized that I'll be 40 in May. I've had a wonderful life. We have six beautiful well-behaved children and the Lord has been good to me in mortality. My life is about half-way over, and whether I ever obtain my goals and aspirations of this life just doesn't matter in the eternal scheme of things. When I look at others with their lands and gold, when I look at others with their Number 1 New York Times Best Sellers, does it really matter? Can anything compare to the many blessings I have which wealth can never buy -- my reward in heaven and my home on high?
And so the crux of it comes down to this. Have I answered Christ's bidding to Come, follow Him? Have I walked the straight and narrow path? Have I been willing to place my sacrifice of a broken heart and a contrite spirit on the altar of faith? The answers to these questions are critical, because in the end, that's really all that matters.
