- Hi. For fear of rambling on about nothing in particular I'll try to keep this fairly brief.
I study Physics at the University of Glasgow and I'm doing an integrated MSci degree as an undergrad which lasts 5 years in total. I blame this direction of my life for the uncontrollable and inevitable descent into a world in which I am an eternal geek. I feel that this should be classified as a disability and since this is so, I should be given money to help me cope.
I also have a certain condition known as being "straight edge", which implies that I don't use any drugs whatsoever, apart from those prescribed or inherent in fizzy drinks, which does mean that I don't drink alcohol.
I'm a devout antitheist and firmly believe in reason and evidence as a course of necessity. I don't attend christenings or any other such religious child abuse ceremonies (harsh, but fair) and seek to understand what drives people into religion other than upbringing and society.

- Alkaline Trio (+ Matt Skiba solo stuff), Anti-Flag, Rancid, Rise Against, Heavens, Green Day, Operation Ivy, Zebrahead, Bouncing Souls, Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards, The Distillers, Less Than Jake, The Offspring, The Damned, The Clash, Pennywise have a cracking new Free album, and I have recently discovered One Man Army - unfortunately they split in 2005.. I'm only a couple of years too late for that.

- Books
- There are loads of books I like but my big favourites of the moment are anything by Stephen King, especially the "Dark Tower" series and "Salem's Lot" (which coincides with an increasing interest in vampires and the undead), "Helter Skelter" by Vincent Bugliosi and "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. Other books I've read recently are "The Taking" and "The Face" both by Dean Koontz, "The Secret of Crickley Hall" by James Herbert, "Dracula" by Bram Stoker, and "The Satanic Bible" by Anton Szandor LaVey . All have been really good, and are highly recommended.
- Academic Books
- Currently reading "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova. Will then be moving onto "The End of Faith" by Sam Harris and "The Stand" by Stephen King. On top of that I have a million books for my course including "A First Course in General Relativity", "Introduction to Electrodynamics", "Introductory Nuclear Physics", "Principles of Quantum Mechanics", "Physics of Atoms and Molecules" and "Introduction to High Energy Physics" and all the rest I'm having to read.

Quantum Mechanics
I'm sitting trying to study my Quantum Mechanics stuff just now. It's easy to understand the concepts behind everything I'm doing, but it's a bit trickier to tackle problems relating to it. Maybe it implies a lack of understanding somewhere along the line.
I bought 4 books in the last week that won't really get read until I have time on my hands i.e. in June. The four books are "The Three Trillion Dollar War", "The Quotable Atheist", "God is Not Great", and "The Historian". Only the last of these books is fiction, in case you are not aware of that. They should all be good reads. I still have another couple of books kicking about that I'll be wanting to read over the summer as well.
I'm terribly bored as well. I enjoy learning, but hate studying and it's a very lonely experience sometimes. Better be worth it in the end. It's also hindered my songwriting somewhat, since I don't have time to concentrate on it much. I'll try piece bits together a little at a time and hopefully have a few ready not long after the exams are done.
If you feel like distracting me from my studies for a while let me know. More than happy to talk to people on msn or dare I say myspace. Or here even.
In other news.. Agony and Irony is out on the 1st of July, so I'm extremely excited about that. I'll be either pre-ordering it and hoping it arrives early or I'll be queued up to get it for the opening time of the shop on that very day. Might even need to take the day off work it's that sensational.
Well that ends another painful ramble on the net...

Look Ma... I'm writing a blog
I thought I would do another one of these for the sake of it.
Essentially typing here is entirely to do with procrastination, and absolutely fuck all to do with actually having something productive to say to be honest. I haven't really done any studying yet, and that leaves me in a really bad situation. I'm gonna start in a minute.. honest... but only because I have an average of a week or so to fully understand each course component. Hopefully all will go well.. really looking forward to getting the exams done and out of the way for another year. Next year should be a bit easier... just got the lectures to concentrate on.. not doing my project til 5th year.. it means when I do finally do my project it'll be bigger, longer... and uncut likely... but I have a year to relax just a little.
In other news.. was doing a tiny little bit of song writing today... getting quite excited at the prospect of having a band that works. Unfortunately we do not currently have a drummer. If you happen to be a drummer or know somebody with similar ideals to myself who can drum, get in touch.
And finally... for anybody who hasn't seen or heard of the Atheist Experience, go to google videos and search for them. They have shitloads of videos with the show they do every week. It's really interesting. BE WARNED: If you have the delusion that there is a God, your mind will be warped by the truth and rational thinking that these people extend to the world every Sunday while others talk about hellfire and fairies.
